As a have stated in my previous review, I have three colour printers at work, one super duper one, a second being relatively good and my back up plan which was my last review.
The Xerox Phaser 8560 I have had for two years and decided to keep when I recently upgraded to my super duper printer that is my pride and joy when I am in creative mode at work. The Xerox Phaser 8560 replaced the 8400 a couple of years ago and we saw several improvements to the machine as you normally do, better going forwards than backwards.
The Phaser 8560 is a great printer and again takes crayon as opposed to ink that give it that excellent finish when producing reletively professional documents.
The sytling of the machine is very similar to that of the 8400, it is exactly the same size, and has the same control panel on the top of it which is good as no training is required when you have the machine installed. No matter what Xerox printer you have the functions are more or less pretty much the same, but as you get to the better models you just have a lot more functions available.
The printer has the capability of taking 625 sheets of paper, slightly more than the 8400, however I do feel that these machines are very similar and you should never fill them to capacity as they always jam without fail. I think this is a problem with the manufacturer though possibly expecting more from the machine than it will actually cope with. Always fill it half full and it saves all those additional trips to remove any paper jams that it may have.
Having increased speed this machine will churn out sheets at 30 ppm, that is both black and white and colour, a slight increase on the 24 that 8400 used to churn. However for the amount of work that I now produce in-house this machine has not got the capability to go quick enough, but again it is another of my back up plans.
This model however offers the duplex feature which is extrememly useful when producing double sided document. The machine will print on one side and then will automatically pull the sheet back into the machine and print o the reverse. It does this for every single sheet no matter how many you are printing and saves a lot of time having to print on one side and then having to take them all out and feed them through again to print on the other side. Without fail no matter how many times I have done this I have always put them in the wrong way around and everything has come out upside down. I now print test pages just to make sure.
This machine is very easy to clean and needs very little maintenance. paper jamsd are always easy to find and easy to remove as opposed to some machine you try and pull a piece of paper out and it starts to tear, the more careful you are, it starts to tear even more.
Problems
- The crayon problem again when laminating, the heat is too warm and melts the crayon making it look a horrible mess
- Its only A4 and doesn't take A3 or SRA3 or SRA4 which is a pain with the amount that I do these days.
This printer is good for day to day basic colour prints, however I have now moved onto something better that makes me wonder why I ever had these smaller machines
Very useful review, although it's best not to make comments about previous reviews - most people reading reviews won't be Ciao members (they'll just be people doing searches on the Internet), so won't know anything bout your previous reviews! MaryX
