Touche Eclat is probably the most famous highlighter/concealer on the market today, lovingly used by women across the globe to get rid of those nasty dark under-eye circles!
The packaging ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the best parts of the product is its sleek, elegant gold coloured casing. ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ is written across the tube in elegant italics, and the whole design of the tube is luxurious and high-end. You click the bottom of the tube to start the liquid flow (unlike the screw of many copies) and a little goes a long way. Application is by a soft brush with delicate, feather light bristles.
The effect ~~~~~~~~~~~
After first purchasing this highlighter about a year ago I haven’t looked back, religiously wearing it each and every day. However, about a week ago I decided to brave the world make-up free when going up to visit a friend and her new baby, with just a little mascara on. In the lift up, my boyfriend was looking at me peculiarly, and I when I asked him what was wrong he asked me if I hadn’t got much sleep last night (I had!) because of how dark it looked under my eyes.
Now usually I would have been upset, but I was ecstatic, as I finally could justify spending that amount of money on a concealer – it worked!
Touche Eclat uses light reflecting technology which bounces light particles off your skin, giving it a radiant glow (hence the radiant touch name), which was revolutionary when it first came out.
Does it last? ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I only ever apply this once in the morning and it lasts me all day, obviously wearing off slightly in rain or if I rub under my eyes too much, but the lasting effect is very good overall. The actual product usually lasts me around five months which is very good for such a small amount of liquid (2.5ml).
The Price ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Expect to pay about £20 a go for this product from department stores or stores such as Boots, but shop around for the best deal. YVES SAINT LAURENT TEST ON ANIMALS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unfortunately like so many major companies, YSL have been proven to use materials in their products which test on animals. It is really not necessary, especially considering how much money they are making from consumers. I was shocked when I found this out and feel consumers have the right to know that their money contributes to the suffering of defenceless animals
The Verdict ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love Touche Eclat, it’s a great little product and extremely effective. Although the size of the tube is small, it lasts a long time. The major draw back is the price, but if you are after a quality product you should be able to manage this, especially if you manage to grab a great deal!
I’ve decided that I’m going to start phasing out products that test on animals from my make-up bag now, as much as I love them, now I know how they make them I can’t justify buying from them, so I’m going to continue on my search to find an equivalent (or better!) highlighter from a cruelty-free company.
When Touche Eclat first emerged it was revolutionary, but to be honest now there are so many other light reflecting pens on offer that finding a suitable and cheaper replacement shouldn’t be hard.
