...I have owned the delta 300 GPS, for approx. 3 years now, and it has never left my side. With the right software the sat nav works well,(software not included). I find that it is a lot more practical than some of the more specialised sat nav's that are a available.
The screen is clear. The controls are easy to use, and re-program. Extra software is readily available from the internet, and very easy to install.
The main problem with the Delta 300 GPS, is the shortage of inbuilt memory, and no WiFi capability, so I have installed a 4gb SD card, and purchase a SD WiFi card, this has resolved the and work well with the unit. The only other problem is that the battery does'nt last as long as I would like, but they never do....

Advantages: saves money Disadvantages: length of cable
...I own a Garmin Etrex Legend GPS system, and use it mounted via a suction cup to the windscreen of my van. The power adaptor connects the GPS to the vehicles power supply using the cigarette lighter.
My reason for purchasing the power adaptor was because use of the backlight on the GPS drained the units battery and would cause the unit to switch off as a 'power saving' function which is very inconvenient. Using the vehicles power supply would also save the batteries for when I used the unit away from the vehicle, such as walking.
The lead costs about £20-£25, but you may buy it cheaper on ebay, and is well worth the money as it will quickly be saved compared to using normal batteries.
I found rechargeable batteries...

Have you ever left the sat nav in your car and thought "damn I still can't find what I was looking for" I have. One day I discovered, after a friend of mine told me about it, that there was a way of using my smartphone as a satellite navigation device.... more
I must admit, I am pretty chuffed with this device but i would much prefer a pda with tomtom, and a seperate laser detector from blackspot.
anyway, it looks the part when in the car, a super clear touch screen, great colour, with accurate speed camera more
I won't delve deeply into the details of how GPS works. That would take ages and you might already know. But in case you don't - suffice to say that there's a bunch of satellites orbiting the earth. Each one sends out a time signal along with it's unique more
