Yamada DVD 2600

I have just gone out to buy this DVD player. I needed one just to use in the bedroom so didnt want to spend loads of money on it.

the dvd player dimensions were 300x60x28mm
small and perfectly formed. It also came with a remote control and a composite A/V cable, not a scart lead.

I couldn't believe it a multiregion dvd player that seemed to play any format of disk you threw at it. It was better specified than my main Toshiba player downstairs on the surround sound cinema setup.

Yes I said £20, I had my credit card at the ready and ended up paying cash instead. The shop assistant said the unit usually retails at £29.95 but as it was being superceeded by the next model the 2700 they were selling at £20 to get rid of the old line. The player still came with richer sounds 1 year guarantee as usual, I just couldn't believe it, they even threw in a scart lead for £1.50 so I paid and rushed off home to try it out.

The first thing i noticed was the draw mechanism was as smooth at a babys bottom. This, in my opinion, is a good sign of quality components used on the system. Next I setup the multi region function which consisted of a bit of fancy number pressing and draw ejecting to set the unit up as multi region. Next I put in region 1\ 2 \3 \4 disks and they all worked fine.

Next came the +dvd rom and -dvd rom copies of films and vcd's and they all played ok also.
So I put an full length film in and lay back on the old bed and watched it through to the end. The film played perfectly with no disk sticking or loss of picture quality, The unit was whisper quiet and a joy to use.

BUT there was one slight problem that i found. When the film finished I turned off the tv with the remote, and the dvd with its remote but the green standby light remained on. Now this dosent sound much but in the dark the green light seemed super bright and illuminated half the bedroom. I like to sleep in the pitch black so I sorted out the problem by sticking some blue tack over the dominating green light and the problem is now sorted.

In conclusion what a exceptional player for te meager sm of £20, I am really pleased with it and watching it regularly with no complaints. Great stuff.
