CONS: My disk caddy will not stay open long enough to put a cd in - I have read about other people with this problem too. Think Arkrights till from "open all hours" !!. However this does not bother me much - you just have to be quicker with the cd!.
Some sync issues (however these are always down to the encoding and cannot be blamed on the machine) can be resolved by pressing the setup button on the remote. It doesn't stop the movie and it resyncs the audio and video.
It is not "pretty" but it's a geeky toy for a geeky age - it doesn't have to be pretty.
If you're using divX and not the original dvd you are saving cash anyway and taking the budjet option - this dvd player matches that - it is a budget option.
Advantages: Plays Everthing Disadvantages: Remote is a little clunky
...As far as standard DVD playback goes there is nothing exceptional about this player, everything you would expect a budget DVD player to do is done no better nor worse than any other player in this price range (and some below this price range). If you have any Mpeg 4 movies (DivX, Xvid etc) then this little beauty will play them as well. Normally these files will only play on your PC (assuming you have the proper codecs installed). From an easy to navigate menu system you can select the file on the CD/DVD that you want to play, press enter and 'voila' there is your...

Advantages: Plays Everything, Cheap Disadvantages: Cheap looking remote
...The Umax/YamadaDVX6100 is one of the early Divx players to hit the market here in the UK. The first was the KISS range of Divx player, the 6100 has one major advantage over the Kiss player, it’s price. At a shade under £80 this player represents excellent value for money.
For a start it’s looks are more than adequate, the player is slim and has a smart silver finish. The remote looks cheap, but I use a universal remote so it wasn’t an issue for me. The player has an annoying animation of a spinning disc when playing a DVD which can be mildly distracting. But all in all it looks the part.
The DVD playing back is excellent, I’ve never known this player to refuse a DVD or even pause midway through a film. I’ve heard reports that this player is region 0 (it will play any region) I have not verified...
