Don't go and buy any DVD player until you have read this review!
Basically this DVD player is a mutli-region DVD and DIVX player, 'so what' I hear you say?
Well how about this: it plays DVD, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-R,CD+R, CD-RW,VCD, AUDIO CD, SVCD,MP3-CD,MP3-DVD,PCM,JPEG-CD,JPEG-DVD,VOLBS-OGG
Not only this but it is compatible with: JPEG, Divx 3.11, Divx 4.X, Divx 5.x, MP3, WMA, AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, M-PEG-4, PCM and XVID
This DVD Player also has the following features: Full function remote control, PAl and NTSC playback, Dolby Digital, DTS, Different selectable screen formats, Multi speed fast forward and rewind, slow motion and multi level zoom, Global motion compensation (GMC) and more besides.
After reading this on a website I took the plunge and bought one.I paid £76.99 inc vat. The player arrived three days later, I plugged it it with a spare scart lead and hey presto it works! HUZZAH! I have thrown everything at it apart from a slice of salami and it has played it all.
Now for the bad, hum, the remote isnt that trendy (its a lump of plastic) but it does work and has plenty of features, the disc holder is very flimsey, if you have kids then educate them to open and close the disc holder via the remote. Thats it for the bad.
The only other thing is that if you do put a divx disc in and its a bad picture quality, don't blame the DVD check the quality it has been recorded first. There's that old addage rubbish in rubbish out. If it is bad quality then you can reduce the picture size until the grain get finer.
All in all a great all-rounder, I have been so impressed I bought one for the grand parents as a present. They can now watch family holiday pictures until the cows come home, the kids can actually play their DVD's when they sleep over and Granny now knows an MP3 isnt a car :)
One word of warning to the purists, this isnt for you, if your a net nerd like me this is the answer to all your wants because of the sheer volume of different formats. If you want something that is the very latest in technology playing the perfect picture I would advise you to go and spend £300 on something you have researched on other reviews.
