I have owned one of these for two years now so feel i can write an honest review. I purchased mine from www.specialreserve.co.uk for £37.99 (although I see that they have now gone into liqudation). The Yamada DVX 6600 is a versatile player being able to cope with a vast array of formats from standard CD, VCD & DVD through to the far more compressed AVI, Divx, Xvid, MPEG4 and JPEG picture discs to name a few. it does come with one or two little downsides. Random freezing is quite common when playing compressed discs and can sometimes 'forget' what it's doing. A couple of times pausing a film meant it started playing from the start again. Also it can seem sluggish to load and play films. Although it carries Dolby Digital and DTS stamps, the sound is very basic, if you wanted a real cinema sound you'd have to opt for a separate decoder for decent all round noise. Firmware upgrades are virtually non-existent and hard to find. The disc tray is quite thin and floppy, I have feared for it breaking on a few occasions when my daughter has loaded a film. But none-the-less it has lasted longer than other high end players I have owned previously. The actual player buttons are very simple but conveniently placed on the top as opposed to the front, covering just play/pause, stop, open/eject, fast forward, rewind and On/off (The latter being the only button on the front). A plus being when turned off from the unit itself, you save power as it bypasses standby mode and turns off fully. All other features are remote control dependant. The unit looks basic and quite dated but overall it has been pretty reliable and withstood all that myself and my kids have thrown at it. Picture quality is good, sound moderate. Would i personally recommend one? Well there's not much else out there you can pick up like this for less than £40 and still have change for a pack of cds to play on it.

As has been said..a lot more details would help in deciding to buy one or not.
(I know these are dated now but are still a great buy - everyone has so much more bandwidth these days, loads of stuff to download and watch! Plus most DVD players STILL do not support divx/xvid etc so these are a great buy from ebay or refurbished!)
