I have had this DVD player for around 3 years now, I got it as a Christmas present from my dad. I don't think it cost too much, only around £40 and that was 3 years ago, probably a lot cheaper now. I found it very easy to setup you simply attach the scart lead to the back of the DVD player and then to the TV. Obviously put the plug in. As soon as I turned the power on the DVD player my TV automatically went to AV and it was ready to use straight away. It was the same for turning it off simply press the power button and it goes straight back to the TV. Its very women proof.
Look
It is a really nice looking DVD player, its nice and slim, silver in colour and has green display lights. On the actual DVD player you have limited buttons (because you're supposed to use the remote for doing most things). It has a power button on the left of it. Then under the disk tray it has play, stop, pause and then the skip chapter buttons.
Other
It plays all region DVDs and cdr and rw and DVD rw/r, you can also play mp3's, and put photo disks on and look through them. It is quite slow sometimes to load up, and sometimes it takes a couple of times to load but I think that's just down to it needed its lenses cleaned. The quality of the picture is nice and clear. It comes with a remote which is easy to use, and which is your main source of operating it. It has a standby mode, you can also play DVD games on it. The sound is nice and clear, you can edit the settings to suit your needs like with bass and treble.
Also it has a screen saver which comes on when you pause a film. I used to play stupid games with this when it came on with a few friends. All it is is an oval shape with DVD written inside it which bounces around a black screen and it changes colour whenever it hit the edge. We would each shout out the colour that we thought it was going to change to, stupid and pointless but we had a fun few minutes while we were waiting to continue the film.
In all the time of having this DVD I have never thought of getting a new 1, because it's been fine. It does everything I want it 2, and it looks great.
I would recommend it.

You sit and try to guess what colour is coming next? Must've been a pretty dull film, if that's the only alternative??

It sounds like it behaves better than my 3 year old DVD player. Mine refuses to play The West Wing and CSI Miami - very frustrating! Good concise overview.
