Yamaha acoustic guitars have a really nice and crisp sound, and the harmonics, in my opinion are unmatched by other brands. I love the feel of the neck, which may be where the preference really lies for each artist. Maybe the fact that I have somewhat shorter and thicker fingers is why I have become so partial to the Yamaha. With the Fender, the fret board is a bit wider and it makes it harder for me to hit those notes like I can on the Yamaha.
Anyway, if you like to play the acoustic guitar, and you dont have a lot of money to afford those BIG name brands (ie; Gibson, Fender, Kramer, etc.) go out and get yourself a Yamaha. In my opinion, the Yamaha acoustic guitars are every bit as good as the bigger names. Martin acoustics are probably the best, but you can still hang with the big boys on a Yamaha!
