Yamaha PJL-520 - projector lamp

Advantages: Looks Great - Very Stylish, Compact & Very Light.
Disadvantages: Not Bright Enough At All

There are several important factors to look at when considering buying a projector and that is the brightness. This projector boasts a 1400 lumen lamp. For those of you who aren't used to projector terminology, lumens are just a unit for the measure of how bright the bulb in a projector is (and lamp is just the correct term for a projector bulb) Now this isn't an amazing brightness, but the Sanyo PLC-SU20 (just as an example) works comfortably at 1200 lumens and around 1500 lumens is really what somebody new to projectors should probably be looking at. Advantages: 1280 x 1024 Maximum Resolution
Disadvantages: Not designed for ceiling mounting.

...with you to the office and it's copact size makes it ideal for someone who has to take the train/tube to work. The picture quality is excellent with this projector, owing mainly to its 1280 x 1024 resolution. There is a good range of inputs on this projector allowing you to connect anything from a PC to a dvd player to it. The only downside to the inputs is that it has only got a single RCA for video input and relies upon a 3.5mm (headphone type) audio jack. Which can be a pain at times as you cant just use a triple RCA lead. This projector is not designed to be ceiling mounted. It can only be desk mounted which makes setup time much quicker but if your looking for a permanent installation that's out of the way, this isn't for you. Advantages: Silent operation, good speaker, very well constructed.
Disadvantages: Heavy at 5kg, and very bulky.

..., and as they are under pressure they tend to explode (this isn't an exaggeration). Now, I don't want to scare anyone now thinking that their projector could explode at any minute. There isn't enough force to break through the projector's casing, but what tends to happens is the rupturing of the bulb will cause the prism inside the projector to move slightly. Moving the prism even just a tiny amount will cause the colours to shift out of alignment. This results in what i referred to as ghosting, whereby the image is produced three times. But, these projectors tend to last a lot longer than intended, we had three in all in need of a service, two had over 3000 hours and the third had over 4000 hours use on the lamp.
