Product Information: Agathis body. Bolt-on maple neck. Sonokeling fingerboard. 22 frets. Two single-coils, one humbucker pickup. Five-position pickup selector, master volume and master tone. Vintage-type vibrato bridge. Black supplied unless otherwise requested. Other colours available: Dark Blue Metallic (DBM) & Red Metallic (RM) Left handed model not available.
Advantages: Low Price, Good Sound, Looks Good Disadvantages: My other guitars don't get a seeing to :)
The YamahaPacifica 112 is in the price range for most beginners and usually comes as a decent package with amp, lead, strap and beginners book, all for around £220.
However, don't think that this guitar is just another cheap Strat copy - its much more than that.
With its beautiful curves and magnificent body shape, it puts even top of the range Fender originals to shame. I looks good in Black and in Red, but most of all in the wood finish.
Not just its looks put this guitar up there with the top models but also its sound. After a year of playing this guitar I went out and bought a £900 guitar but i wish i hadn't. The tone is extremely rich and full on all three pickups and with the gain up this guitar turns into a hard-rock killing machine.
Well built aswel, this guitar has survived being thrown around me on stage and I havent ...
Advantages: The Yamaha brand name Disadvantages: Low on looks, high on practicality
Yamaha are well known for motorbikes and keyboards, but over the last 20 years they have built up a fantastic reputation for building guitars of the very highest quality, and at prices usually well below the more illustrious names in the business such as Gibson, Fender and PRS. They also have the advantage that they are readily available from most music shops, so you don't have to go searching for them.
I bought my YamahaPacifica 112 a couple of years ago from eBay, and paid the princely sum of £40 for it. Initially I bought it because I wanted a guitar I could put in the back of the car and use for practice whilst staying in hotels. What surprised me most of all was the staggeringly good build quality for such an inexpensive guitar (the RRP is still below £200). These things really are built to last, and play far better than almost ...
Advantages: An inexpensive, versatile guitar, apt for players of all levels Disadvantages: Minor critisms, mentioned in the review.
When I first showed an interest in learning to play guitar about nine years ago my parents were keen to get me my own guitar to learn on, (primarily so I'd stop pinching my dad's), without spending an absolute fortune for it. My guitar-playing brother was given instructions to find me a reasonable quality guitar that didn't cost a bomb. The YamahaPacifica 112 is the guitar I was given.
The Pacifica is a double-cut away electric, similar in style to the classic Stratocaster. It is solid-bodied and comes with three pick-ups, a five-way selector, volume and tone controls and a floating bridge, (Don't worry non-guitarists, I'll go into these in more detail later in the review).
The Pacifica is a common enough guitar that could be found in any major music shop, (Dawson's is a good example), but most smaller shops are also likely to have ...
