If you have never had an electric guitar and are looking for your first one. I cannot recommend this guitar highly enough.
There are two Yamaha 112's you can get. The standard one which you can pick up for £120 which is absolutely incredible value. Or the alder body one (which I have) which also has improved pick ups.
Firstly let’s start on the looks of this guitar. Every time I look at it I stare at it slack jawed by its beauty! I have the lake blue one (code PAC112J-BLUE). The guitar has ah alder body, a stunning maple neck and a rosewood finger board with the standard 22 frets.
It's absolutely stunning from the beautiful neck at the top to the gorgeous swooping lines of the actual body. The Pacifica has three pick ups. 2 single coil ones and one hum bucker. +It also has tone and volume setting and also a switch which unfortunately I'm not 100% sure what it does! It provides a slight change in tone from mellow to a slightly harsher tone.
Ok the most important thing about electric guitars. The first time I ever picked one up I was devastated to find I didn’t sound like Matt Bellamy or Tom Morrello or Jimi Hendrix or who ever your fave guitarist may be. To produce sounds like these you will need either an amp that produces distortion (I have a Marshall MG15 DFX which I will review at a later date) Effects pedals (I have a boss metal zone mt-2, will also review later). Or a combination of the two to create rocky sounds. So don't let that put you off if you pick it up and you only get what is referred to as a "clean" sound.
In terms of sound quality the Pacifica is second to none in its price range. It wiped the floor with any feder/squite/gibson les paul/ibanez or other in its price range.
It is very simple to change the strings. Simply unscrew the strings loose on the neck of the guitar. Remove 6 small screws and the small piece of plastic on the back and push the strings through the holders. Very simple indeed. Even I could do it!
One last point. I know I have put intermediate but this guitar is a perfect beginner/inter guitar.
Oh one last more important point! Matt Bellamy started on a Pacifica! What better advert that that lol!!!
As with any of my reviews if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask :).
