Through my many years as a central London courier for one of the more famous and largest firms , i had the unique perspective of riding several bikes to death , not many bikes will with stand 11 hours of constant hard filtering and top speed cruising on distance work. The Diversion series by Yamaha is one of the few bikes that will always have its praises sung by couriers and professional bikers alike. The high ride and comfortable up-right seating position and well balanced frame offer excelent control for slow speed filtering and mid range maneovering, the over sized back brake pedal is comfortable to use and allows you to literally walk the bike through traffic. On the motorway the diversion cruises very comfortably , the fairing offers excelent protection from the wind and you won't find your neck aching from doing long distances at max (legal) speed. Topboxes and sideboxes fit easily to the frame and with the large backseat and double pillion handle grips, your pillion passenger travels in equal comfort. Tho the Diversion 600 may well be an good choice for the starter rider , i personnally would only buy a Diversion 900 , the Chain driven system is replaced with a prop shaft drive which is reliable and smooth and considering the weight, height and size of the bike you may aswell get your moneys worth. To sum up the Diversion is a superb all rounder , a real work horse , but can also be incredible fun to ride , they aren't easy to wheelie , but respond well once you've got the hang of it , and in my years of owning one , apart from usual service requirements, i've never had anything major go wrong with it.

Good start and welcome. I too have the XJ600S and use it for commuting. I was wondering how many miles you get to the tank as I recently hit the 180without using the reserve! Must have been on vapour. I will get around to writing an op eventually when I've got a spare hour or so. Have read of some of the other ops and you'll get the hang of it. Let me know if you update your op and I'll look to a higher rating Stefan
