Yamaha XT600E

The XT600E is a strange beast. A four stroke single cylinder on/off road bike which is greatly favoured in the likes of France and Germany but rarely seen over here (UK). I bought a 1992 machine last year from a friend for the princely sum of £1400. I was suffering withdrawal symptoms having sold my year old ZX-6R a few months before. ive had my xt600e for 2 years now never failed me every day go to and from work 20miles a day. i love the way bike just sails through the traffic it also feels like your sitting on top of a throne so hight up you can see all around for dangers.i get around 55miles per gallon wich i think is good for a 600cc. and yes i know its basic motorbike but very reliable. the new xt,s after 2003 seem to have bad reviews about cutting out ,doint know why? so my final thought is (old is gold);) and from my point of view and the word of a .yousaf take one for a test run and you will not be disappointed and ... more

I purchased my XT600 new in 2002, and I'm afraid that it only comes out of the garage in dry weather. If you are looking for a fast thrill machine then don't buy one of these, if, however you want a very dependable bike for commuting to the office then this is the bike for you. Very easy to handle in the long traffic queues, there is no arm ache due to the upright riding position. Not the fastest bike but there are 600cc's if you need them. Good points include the fuel consumption and reliability, can however be regarded by the sports bikers as an old mans bike. A low-maintenace machine, but ... more
