When I started playing the flute, 7 years ago, I used a Yamaha 211 and 7 years later, at Grade 6 I am still finding it good to play. This flute is great to learn on as a beginner however, it is a little more expensive than other flutes for the same level. Although, other flutes for the same level are not always suitable for higher grades. I would recommend it to any beginner; it sounds fantastic, has good tonality and is fairly cheap. The only disadvantage is that it does not sound as good in the higher register but this does not matter for a beginner. I think it is being sold at a reasonable price but I do think £400 is a bit expensive for a beginner when they are not sure if they will stick at it.
