Advantages Build quaility great, performance second to none.

Disadvantages Very few - price range high for leisure applications

This quad bike when it was released, took the ATV community by storm. The yamaha YFZ450 is the ultimate in performance quad bikes. It has taken the place of the old trx250 and become the top race/sport quad of current times for most applications.

The YFZ450 is primarily aimed at the offroad/motocross application and here its design excells. The power band of the quad is wide enough for sport/leisure use but also high enough for out of crate race winning.

The suspension and front A-Arm set up on this quad is really a top selling point, the modern design allows for the stresses and strains of jumping and riding it hard while also producing a very comfortable ride height for many green lane uses. The design of this set up provides good width for safety and cornering stability as well as handling the rougher terains that you might use to ride it on.

The frame is made of a good grade steel and designed with longelivity and strength in mind. I have not seen a single sign of cracking paint or stress after 2 years of riding it really hard! This frame design is so good and has been so popular that for racing people buy the frame and put their engine of choice into it; although often they decide to stick with the ultra reliable and very powerful 450cc 4 stroke motor!

The quad bike has outstanding disc brakes all round, so much so that i bought another set of these brakes to put on my Yamaha Banshee!

The rear swing arm is of solid construction and will outlive most components, the subframe on this quad is of a cleverly sturdy design even though it has been made lightweight. In fact the whole overall weight of this quad bike is very reasonable and lighter than most other quads of the same spec and application.

For all people interested in having the best quad bike for most applictaions this is the bike to have.

Further to its credit the parts back up and aftermarket parts availablility is very good. The quad can be seen winning major events (BRITSH QUAD CHAMPS THIS YEAR), to producing smiles on the green lanes!
