Recently, I found myself staring at a very large screen, in a very bare home entertainment room, trying to figure out what was missing, until I found this. My goal was to build and furnish a sleek clean, home entertainment system, with as little cables as possible, and the best sound system and TV available for watching DVDs, and sky on, and I had the TV, and this just completed the deal.
Obviously, having 5, or 7.1 surround sound, wouldn't have been a good choice for me, because of the amount of cables and the fact that u have to space speakers around the room, and that's why I went for the Yamaha.
The YSP range is designed to be a simple sound system which produces crisp surround sound without any fuss and mess, and the way Yamaha has done this is by utilizing 42 separate speakers, each pointed at different angles, which then produce that surround sound effect we all know and love.
Any way I bought my new system which came in a nice 4 ft box (which made an appropriate plaything for the rabbits) and I started set up, and immediately I fell in love. The YSP-1000 has a brilliant automated set up, which included a microphone to sound volume and frequency response, which then tuned everything up for me, brilliant.
So, after only a few minutes of the setup, I was ready for action, and so I flicked through top the news and found dialog to be crisp, I then turned it to stars wars episode 3 (one of the best films i own to test a/v equipment to its limits) and let me say I nearly wet myself when all around me an explosion bombed through the room, with the volume so high it rattled my teeth (we soon had the neighbors complain and since I have been banned from turning it up any higher then -30db by my loving wife).
Now I know people love for those writing these reviews to detail all of its features, but I leave that to the specifications page, but I will tell you this, the YSP-1000 had a lot of extra features which were a pleasant surprise. I mean, it even thought about the kids, with a night mode to make sure they can sleep soundly while I watch my movies.
Now I know I've made it seem that this piece of equipment is a most have, most buy, piece of tech, however, it is mainly designed with movies and TV in mind, not music, and thus if u intend to hook up a stereo to this baby, maybe you might want to look at some other products, because for £800 you want to know your getting something you'll love.
So, summing it up, the YSP is my favorite toy of the year, and, even though it may not be for everyone, it certainly makes me smile when I switch it on. It has clean aesthetics, simple to setup, superb sound quality, good set of features, no mess, well I don't think I'll ever need anything more.
