build quality. We think: The YTS62 has become a modern classic, used by leading professional players worldwide. Their strong clear sound, and excellent play...
Advantages: Well made and solidly built. Nice tone and good intonation. Supplied with lightweight case with carrying strap Disadvantages: Quite expensive, keys are quite flat (they seem too large when I play this sax) and the tone is not quite as rich as some other professional saxes (eg.selmer references)
...of this sax is that it is supplied with a hard case with a carrying strap, unlike many saxes which are now supplied without a case (it is not supplied with a mouthpiece).
Having tried out all of the leading tenorsaxophones, I rated this very highly, and it was my favourite after the two new selmer reference series saxophones (which are incredible!) - I actually found the intonation on this yamaha better than on my own reference 36 tenor! It made a pleasant change to find myself enjoying playing one of the professional yamaha saxes, however in the end I opted for a selmer reference 36, because it just seems to have that something extra (I also find my fingers fit the keys on the selmer better)...

Advantages: good for beginners Disadvantages: none I can think of
...I started out with the yamahaSaxophone. It is a real good beginner. In fact I sold it a couple of years ago to a young girl. I had the saxophone for many years. If you take good care of it, it will last a life time. It is a good sounding instrument. Easy to tune and has good tone. I believe that someone that is just starting out learning to play this product would be the best to start out with. My parents chose the yamahasaxophone for me and I would for my son, who will be able to join band in a couple of years....

...Yamaha Alto Saxophone YS62 Silver Finish
Bought new recently plays beautifully, easy top notes with clear sound, good low notes although for me the low note L.H. 5 finger will need work to get smooth transitions between notes. Quite a bright tone which suits me. Silver finish adds to the price but to me impresses more than the slightly yellow appearance of the gold one. Sturdy case although I have reverted to my Gig bag as the sturdy case is quite heavy but good for commutes or school runs. Case has feet on two sides making vertical or horizontal stacking standing possible good for tight spots on the bus or car boot. Adjustable R.H. thumb support good for kids possibly. Came with sensible sized mouthpiece for good all round use....
