Advantages Smells delicious, perfect for winter, lasts ages

Disadvantages The usual Yankee candle price

I almost always have a Yankee Candle on the go in my house - my favourites are the fruity scents like Country Lemonade and Black Cherry, but around this time of year, I start to buy more Christmassy scents, such as the candles that smell of cinnamon and spice.

My mum is also a Yankee Candle addict, and when I was at my parents house a few weeks ago, she was, as always, burning one. As the smell started to waft around the room, I had a look to see what fragrance she was burning this time, and it turned out to be Cherries On Snow, which seems to be a brand new scent this year.

I love the Black Cherry Yankee Candle, and anything that smells of cherry. So I was really pleased that this scent has come out.

This fragrance comes in the usual large, medium and small jars, as well as large and medium 2 wick tumblers, tealights, and the size I have, which is the regular/small tumbler.

The tumbler is a round glass jar with a silvery lid. The lid can be used to sit the candle on. I do prefer the classic Yankee Candle jars, but I like the tumblers too and sometimes they can be less pricey.

The wax itself is a bright and vivid red - very Christmassy and cheerful. The picture on the front is just what the name is - some red cherries sitting on some icy snow. Plain, clean, fresh looking.

When you burn this candle, the initial smell of course is of cherry. It smells juicy and fresh, and absolutely bursting with cherry scent. It's a sweeter smell than the Black Cherry range, but not sickeningly so at all - I dislike overly sweet smells but this is just right. The sweetness is provided by the almond scent that this candle has, and there is definitely a sniff of marzipan within the fragrance. Yankee also say that this candle has an 'icy freshness' - when you have been burning it for a while, there is a cool aspect to the smell, which I think could be cloves or something like that. Delicious!

Prices vary in shops and across the web for all sizes of Yankee Candle, but small tumblers will usually be around £6 to £8.

Yankee advise that these particular tumblers have a burn time of 35-45 hours. This candle, as I normally find with Yankee, has lasted me for ages even when I have been burning it all evening.

I would absolutely recommend the Cherries On Snow fragrance. While it's a fruity smell, it's perfect for this time of year thanks to the gorgeous red colour and sweet smell. My new favourite.
