Cherries On Snow

Cherries On Snow is part of the festive range of fragrances that Yankee Candle offer. Depending on when and where you purchase, it can be found in the form of housewarmer jars, tea lights, tumblers and wax tarts.

This particular wax tart is bright red in colour. A wax tart for those unfamiliar with Yankee Candle, is a disc of solid wax which is highly scented with fragrance oils. It should be melted in a tart or oil burner and contains at least 8 hours of fragrance. This tart is shrink wrapped to keep it fresh. It can be identified by the image label showing fresh cherries on a white, snowy background. Each tart weighs 22g.

The official Yankee description for Cherries On Snow is..

'an enchanted, sparkling blend of bright, juicy cherries and sweet almonds and an icy freshness'.

My Thoughts

Cherries On Snow was a Yankee scent I kept meaning to buy before Christmas but then other scents would take my fancy. After Christmas though, I read some enthusastic reviews about this particular scent and couldn't resist any longer so I ordered one online. I love the Yankee festive range but to be honest, I never did quite associate cherries with Christmas!

As soon as the tart was unwrapped, I was addicted! I do like cherry scents but wasn't a massive fan of the Black Cherry scent that Yankee offer. My fiance is a big fan of the way cherries smell so I knew this would be a hit with him. The naked tart smells divine and has a rich cherry scent which is deliciously sweet. I popped it in the burner bowl and within 5 minutes of it beginning to melt, the scent was very powerful. The tart melts to form a pool of bright red wax which glistens.

Fresh Cherries

The difference between Cherries On Snow and Black Cherry is very evident to me. Cherries On Snow is incredibly invigorating and offers a blast of freshness as it filters around the room - I can see where the 'icy freshness' comes into play and this is noticeable for the duration of the tart melting. The freshness is merely a background feel though and doesn't detract from the tempting aroma from the body of the scent.

Cherries On Snow is the perfect day time scent due to the fresh feeling it offers. It is strong enough to eliminate household odours and could be witnessed around our full flat but of course appreciated more in the immediate living area. It is a bright, welcoming scent which is pleasantly cool and relaxed. It is quite a layered scent and I loved walking back into the living room and catching the different aromas.

Cherries On Snow is predominately sweet and almost a bit 'fizzy' so it reminds me of cherryade but it a little less artificial. The cherry element is very fresh, natural and incredibly juicy.

I love the rounded sweetness of the scent and it makes it all the more mouthwatering and flavoursome. I will admit that I am not a big fan of almond but it has been introduced to the cherry in such a way where it simply adds depth and substance to a potentionally light scent. The almond is noticeable and does compliment the cherry perfectly.

Conclusion

I cannot fault Cherries On Snow. It is enchanting, full of character and has a pleasant blend of fragrance notes. The overall scent is extremely natural and if it wasn't for the icy freshness edging some of the sweetness away, it would make me think of a cherry Bakewell tart. I prefer this one to Black Cherry as I found Black Cherry to be too powerful and this is a light, fragrant alternative.

I burned my tart for a few hours each day for several days and the scent remained consistency and noticeable each day. I would say I managed to get around 11 hours of scent and that is excluding the hour or so the scent chose to hang around in the air after the tea light had went out. Going going and excellent value for money. This scent will only appeal if you like cherry flavoured scents and is definitely an acquired scent in my opinion.
