If you haven't heard of Yankee Candle by now - where have you been! Originally established in the USA, this popular name is on many candle and scented homeware products.
Spring 2012 - the release of 5 new Yankee Candle scents. Alongside Pink Drago Fruit, Loves Me Loves Me Not, Fruit Fusion and Wild Passionfruit is Sicilian Lemon.
Like many other Yankee scents, Sicilian Lemon can be purchased in different formats to suit your home and budget. The more expensive options include housewarmer jars and tumblers. If you don't wish to splash out on an expensive jar, opt for the votive sampler, wax tart or the tea lights.
I my experience of Sicilian Lemon is by way of the wax tart. A wax tart is a disc of solid wax which has been infused with natural essential oils. Each 22g is designed to give at least 8 hours of fragrance and should be melted in an appropriate tart or oil burner.
Sicilian Lemon is naturally a yellow coloured tart. It is presented shrink wrapped for freshness and features an image label showing juicy lemons. Yankee describe Sicilian Lemon as..
'a bright and sunny citrus...perfectly ripe, with a naturally sweet and refreshing scent'
As this is a new release, it is likely to be stocked in your local Yankee stocked store. Online, it is widely available.
*www.yankeescents4.com - £1.05 (tart) £1.60 (votive) £5.99 (tea lights) and from £7.49 (jars and tumblers)

I recently bought the full range of 2012 fragrances that Yankee Candle released - I couldn't resist! I love trying new fragrances around my home as I love my home to smell welcoming and fragrant all the time - and Yankee is my favourite candle brand. I buy the wax tarts to sample a scent before considering splashing out on the jars. A find the tarts to be very appealing due to how strong they are usually.
I like lemon scents but I feel they can be a hit or a miss. Some lemon scents remind me too much of cleaning products and I have a cheap bottle of Cif to make my home smell like this so I want something a bit more natural when it comes to candles. This tart was beautifully presented and I chose to use it during the day as I associate lemon with being fresh and fruity rather than warm and cosy (so evening use was out of the question).
As I removed the wrapped, I was taken in by the gorgeous lemon fragrance from this tart. I popped it in the burner bowl and lit the tea light. The tart melted evenly and formed a pool of pale yellow wax. Having sampled some of the other Yankee lemon based scents before (Country Lemonade and Sparkling Lemon), I noticed some similarities between them and Sicilian Lemon. Sicilian Lemon does have its own character though and isn't identical to the other lemon scents.
I wouldn't say this is the strongest wax tart I have tried before but it isn't watery and weak like some others. It filled my living room with a pleasant level of fragrance and filtered into my kitchen. I could detect a hint of lemon in my hall way but it didn't treat our whole flat to a delightful fragrance.
Sicilian Lemon offers a lovely scent which is fresh and inviting without being in your face. It flows beautifully and is completely natural smelling which I appreciate. The overall scent made my home smell fresh and clean and took over the cleaning product smell from the kitchen. Sicilian Lemon is quite flavoursome and reminds me of being on holiday as it has a Mediterranean feel to it. The lemon is quite zingy without being harsh and is quite like a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Sicilian Lemon is an airy and pleasantly light scent. The citrussy lemon is complimented by a delicate sweetness which laces it perfectly and layers it slightly. The overall scent is a bright scent which is quite engaging and it is definitely a day time, feel good sort of scent - for me anyway! The scent isn't consistent. I noticed a distinct drop in strength after an hour or each time I melted this tart and this was quite disappointing.
I'm not sure I would choose this over the top of the other lemon scents that Yankee offer. It is pleasant but I didn't seem to get the full 8 hours of consistent strength from it so I did feel a little cheated! I do prefer the intensity and vibrancy of Sparkling Lemon and I had hoped that Sicilian Lemon would be similar so I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as generous in strength.
