I'm definitely not your average: half German, half Hong-Kongnese, grew up in China but have been in the UK since 1999, 4 years boarding school in Kent; now, a fresher at the University of Edinburgh. Lots of interesting stories.

*update - 3.5 months later...*
I'm still on this pill and so far, nothing's changed! I've not yet put back any weight, nor has the clarity of my skin changed, my breasts are still larger than they were pre-pill! I wouldn't be able to advise on whether or not it is effective as a method of contraception because all sexual encounters have involved protection (as they should, I'm petrified of STI's). Once my boyfriend moves back I'll update further ;)

I've never really believed in going on the pill; I've always thought that considering it doesn't prevent STD's, what's the point? You gain weight, get really moody, and surely it can't be good for when you want to have children later on.
But, recently after an incident where getting really caught up in the moment resulted in unprotected sex, and thereafter, the morning after pill, I've had second thoughts: especially considering the fact that the morning after pill only has a 75% success rate, so when I was a few weeks late and started panicking, I thought, better safe than sorry.
I have a slight aversion to prescription drugs; if they require prescription, they can't be entirely safe, can they? My godmother, the head nurse at a hospital in Hong Kong, recommended that I try Yasmin, because with her experience, over-the-counter drugs tend to be the safest. So I started Yasmin.
I've only been taking it for 2 weeks but I've noticed in this fortnight that I've already had a serious change in appetite: I'm notorious for my ridiculously high metabolism and eating everything in sight. My appetite seems to have flown the coop and the only thing I ever want is sugar, even after a night of heavy drinking when all I usually eat is a plateful of chips with tonnes of mayo. I've definitely shed a few pounds, but funnily enough, my breasts have also grown, not drastically, but noticeably enough.
My sex drive has gone up, as well, which is, from what I gather, rather unusual. My moods have been a lot more sombre, I wouldn't say depressed, but slightly numb, I liken it to when I was taking Prozac a few years back and just kind of floated through life. Granted, it's not adverse, just slightly different from the norm!
I haven't been taking this long enough to know whether or not it is effective as a contraceptive method, but so far, I quite like it: I feel far more balanced!

Advantages: Bigger boobs, clearer skin, might be as good as Dianette and it is FREE Disadvantages: have gained weight(may not be due to pill), have been feeling down,
