Ok first things first, I admit it....I *may*..or AM overly hormonal at times but Im a girl ..were allowed to have our MOM moments (Moments Of Madness ;) )

~*Background Info*~
I decided to try Yasmin after diagnosing myself with PCOS. Yep even the DOCTOR couldnt get it right! Since I wasnt obese (actually VERY slim) there was *no way* I could have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - despite having ALL (or nearly all) the other symptoms and other symptoms in the family. Argh stupid doctor!!!
I went to the doctor DESPERATELY searching for a cure for clear skin. She was quick to prescribe the pill and I opted for Yasmin as it has anti androgens in it.

Long story short - made me moody, made me have to PEE ALL THE TIME, even now at this stage when I get the URGE to PEE I have to RUUUUN lol.....always at the wrong times yeno?? Like when you were younger playing hide and go seek and you find the PERFECT spot where NO ONE will EVER find you....and then.....you have to pee! lol

Anyway.....bladder control still crappy and making me wake up at 4.25am every morning to PEE. This was of course after the intial leg cramps that used to have me in EXCRUTIATING AGONY at night, my whole leg and foot would go into a spasm!

It didnt clear my skin as hoped but made my chest and back FLAWLESS :) It made me moody and taking it felt like a chore. I mean pumping hormones into your body cant be good for you can it?

The best to come was HAIRLOSS! I have a pretty thick head of hair - fine once I get a bang of a straightner! When I read people experienced hair loss on Yasmin I was sure it wouldnt happen to me and thought "hey I could do with a bit less hair anyways". Well...erm....I take it back (and my hair for that matter thank you very much) I started taking Yasmin on the 1-Oct-2006. Hair started shedding after month 3...still shedding even after stoppinh Yasmin on the 11-feb-07. I know it will keep shedding and take 6 months to grow back properly (lets hope) So im not TOO worried, but he possiblity of going *BALD* is lurking around there somewhere...nice..eh?

Ok Yasmin, lets shoot...what ARE you exactly??!

Yasmin: Well I dont mean to BRAG as such, but Im the BEST of BOTH WORLDS. Im a COMBINED pill. Meaning I contain TWO types of hormones - an oestrogen and a progestogen - which have been used worldwide since the 1960s.
Us Combined pills are the most widely used method of contraception.
We work by supplying your body with synthetic forms of the sex hormones oestrogen and progestogen.
When you become pregnant the body produces these hormones, at levels which prevent ovulation and so makes further conception impossible. We have the power to mimic this action.

Erm...great I guess? How do you EXACTLY work?? I mean its not your regular 9-5 job now is it Yasmin?
Yasmin:Well, I myself work in 3 main ways. Firstly I prevent your ovaries from releasing an egg each month.

Yasmin: Well erm pretty much.

Well Yasmin weve heard all the GOOD stuff....but whats the catch? Or Terms and Conditions?
Yasmin: Well like all medications there ARE risks along with the benefits. A very small number of women may develop blood clots either in the vein or artery but its perf......

You mean like the "very small amount of women" that *may* experience hair shedding???!!
Yasmin: No comment!

What other so called "risks" are there?
Yasmin: Wells its important to watch out for:

severe pain and swelling in the calf of one leg
severe chest pain and difficulty breathing
severe abdominal pain
severe, prolonged headache - especially if you have not previously suffered from migraine
loss of vision or weakness on one side of the body
yellow eyes and skin (jaundice)

Yasmin: *stares sheepishly at the floor*

So what other BENEFITS can we expect?
Yasmin: You can expect lighter, regular, less painful periods! In the long term I dont mean to BOAST but I could reduce your risk of cancer by as much as 50%!
Im ALSO the only one containing the progestin drsp™, or drospirenone (pronounced dros-peer-eh-known), which makes me a different. Although I may increase potassium in your body to dangerous levels....wooops my bad!

....eh thats great Yasmin..really!! erm ...but then again a hormone free diet with plenty of vegetables could also do that couldnt it!
Yasmin: I ....er guess.

Lets move on shall we? Do you have to be taken at the same time every day?
Yasmin: Yes absolutely morning or evening although you do need to get into a regular routine of pill taking. I can still protect you for up to twelve hours after you forget to take me though *smiles proudly (if possible)*

Yasmin: Im the proud off-spring of Berlex Laboratories. Im every generous and theres more than enough of me to go around. Im even free on prescription and I make sure to give a full 21 day supply of me in each pack! Just take one each day then follow by a seven day break. Or why not go all out *shifts excitedly* and run two packs and skip a period ALLLLTOGETHER??!! hmm?? Hey??

After being VERY good and taking it at the EXACT time every day....
Personally I thinks its rubbish, If everyone stopped eating HALF the crap they did we would have whacky hormonal disorders. The low fat High Carb processed high additive rainbow diet is to blame! The only thing you (Yasmin) did for me was cause me HAIRLOSS! My own skin is clearing thankfully and my PCOS symptoms are improving in LEAPS AND BOUNDS! Just by eating fresh fruit, vegetables and lean meats. Doing so has also COMPLETELY got rid of my severe migraines! Completely eliminating starchy foods and dairy and consuming a hormone free natural diet is giving my body the chance to fix itself naturally.

Were too dependant on drugs and find it easier to pop a pill than to make lifestyle changes in today society.
In a years time im pretty certain my skin will be perfect, and the only supplement I take is evening primrose and a sugar free, dairy free, starch free (potatoes, bread, rice) diet has completely changed me and is helping my PCOS symptoms!

Yasmin takes 6 months+ to work, so why dont people give a diet 6 months+ to work instead of saying food has no effect on skin, hormones etc...

Just thought Id get that off my chest! Girls dont touch Yasmin, change your diet and feel and see the difference. Yasmin causes too much trouble than its worth. Even at this stage and Im nearly two months of it I have to wake to pee at night, and Im a VERY heavy sleeper so its made a HUGE difference cause I wouldnt wake up if a BOMB hit my house (and no people lets be kind enough NOT to test my theory all you would-be terrorists ;) )
My cramps have kind of gone over the past week or so...and Im going to give my hair up till a year to sort itself out..theeeeeeeeen Ill just sue lol
