After my old car finally got to the stage were it was costing me more than Pearl Harbour my partner and I decided it was time to get a new car.
Our credit ratings not being great we decided to go blind folded to yes car credit website.
All this site will actually do is check your credit to see if you can have a car from them. The is no real information on the cars or the service.
Deciding to finally go for it we contacted yes car credit they arranged an appointment for us at Luton (this being the closest branch.) I need to point out now if you live on the east coast as I do Luton is about 130 miles away!! So check out there locations before you apply.
Having our hearts set on a newish car we drove the distance, but were greatly disapointed when we got there expecting to see a large car show room as seen on TV, we walked into a small buliding with a car compound out the front.
On a good note the selection was OK. We were assigned a lady to help us with our application. Although on the surface see seemed nice it was obivious that we just had sale written above our heads.
We spoke about our finance and told her we had £200 for a deposit and the old car as a trade in. We also said we could afford to pay about £100 a month. She said and i quote "I'll go crunch the numbers" and came back to us and said that they needed a £500 depsoit and the repayments would be £150 a month.
Shocked i said that this was unacceptable as it would leave us over bugget for the month. After talking it over with my partner we said to the lady we could afford £300 deposit . She then spoke to the underwriters and agreed to the deposit but said the monthly repayment would be £175. Which we agreed to.
At this point we should have really just got in the old car and drove home! We both felt pushed into the decision but still we drove off with a Peugout 106.
The car seemed fine until it started to rain. The window wippers did not clear the screen on the drivers side and i had to eventually pull over until the rain had eased off. The fan belt was also making a terrible noise!
I called yes car credit and they said that I would have to pay for the dignousis for the car and then they MAY pay for the repairs but the window wippers were not covered by the warrenty.
I asked what this 125 point check actually was for as they seemd to miss out the most simplest of checks.
The car is working fine now, but i would never go back again!
Sorry to hear about your experience. Were you asked for ID and subject to a credit check as you haven't mentioned this? Also, how much was the loan and over what period and what APR did they charge you? How old was the car? Everyone's experience is different and these things are useful to know as YCC seem to be skating a bit close to the law as far as the money and interest side of things are concerned. What was the car they took as deposit?

Not an unusual story from them I'm afraid.
