I practice Yoga for three years and here you will read what my impression is.
Yoga is a way of life. Yoga is for people who want to improve their selves physically and mentally. If your goal is to lose weight and improve physical condition only and you don’t want to change anything related with your mind then you will find that Yoga is boring.
There is a big difference between doing something with and without awareness. Yoga helps us to aware our actions, our body and our mind.
One very easy example so that you understand the difference between the ordinary physical exercise and Yoga: -turn your right ankle ten times on the left as fast as you want .. this is ordinary physical exercise -close your eyes, feel your right ankle, take a deep breath, turn it tem times on the left very slowly, take a breath when it goes up and breathe out when your foot goes down, concentrate what happens with it, when you finish, open your eyes and inspect what is the result and the changes after doing this exercise… this is Yoga Yoga is not a religion. Yoga will help you to be better in everything independently of your religion, gender and age. You will understand that the world is such as you see it. Everything is in our minds and that’s because people may see the same thing in a different way.
The complex part of Yoga is that you must practice it every day and you must change your thinking in a positive way. You need at least 15 min per day for doing your exercises and the whole day to aware about all your actions and thoughts.

If you want to see the effect you must find a good instructor - a real Guru and not somebody who practiced callanetics and learned the yoga exercices.
And like a lot of other sports or corses you must spent at least 15 min a day.
