Advantages: Great fun Disadvantages: Very large to store and transport
...also made of plastic.
The tailpiece is connected by wire to the endpin which is a metal spike on the bottom of the bass. This is retractable so it doesn’t become a lethal weapon when being transported!
♫ ♫ How big? ♫ ♫
Double basses like the other stringed instruments come in a range of sizes. The trouble with learning double bass particularly for the young is the shear size of the instrument and finger stretch required. For many years now the half and three-quarter sizebass have been readily available and in the 1990’s it became possible to buy a quarter, an eighth and even a sixteenth sizebass. My youngest daughter started playing a violin on a 1/8th size instrument! I must admit it did look rather like a toy. The ¾ size double bass is the most popular size today as it is slightly easier...

Advantages: Great looking kit great sound Disadvantages: standard hardware needs improving
...I've been playing the drums for very nearly 20 years now and over the years i've had a fair few kits. I purchased my XPK kit some 8-9 years ago and it's still going strong.
Firstly i'll comment on looks. My kit is in cherry red clear laquer which shows the grain of the wood thru the laquer with great effect, each tom has 6 high tension braced tensioning lugs(on the later models these were changed to unbraced traditional lugs)these lugs give a kinda rock kit look if you know what i mean. The bass drum has 10 high tension lugs. I never bought the standard snare with this kit, i opted to buy a genista snare instead which i will write a review on some time so unfortunately i can't comment on the standard snare.
The hardware you get with this kit looks kinda average, at the time i was in a touring band so i kept the stardard stuff...

Advantages: Easy to use, sounds are big Disadvantages: Not very robust
...The Novation Bass station keyboard is a small and portable multi use synth able to produce not only low bass sounds but also high frequencies (and noises). It has a two octave keyboard scale with two VCO's. It is able to produce some fantastic analogue sub bass sounds similar to the Roland TB303 as well as Moog like synth lead sounds. I have found that some of the control knobs can be a little temperamental but that could be due to lack of use, also I feel that if this synth were to be dropped on the ground, it wouldn't stand much
chance of survival. A great feature of this piece of equipment is that you can store up to five sounds which is really useful and very easy to do. Also this works well in live situations, giving ease to tweak the knobs to get a desired sound. This is a small synth with big fat sounds and although not built...

I recently upgrade from a 1.5Ghz G4 stealth upgrade Mac Mini to the Core 2 Duo 1.83 Ghz mini and I am very impressed with the performance improvements. With Xbench the Core 2 Duo was approximately twice as fast as the G4 on many tests.
The Mac Mini has more
