There was I alone on a hot summer’s day and feeling shaky! Testing my blood sugars revealed that they had dropped to 4.1mmol and I was starting the signs of a hypoglycaemic attack. Knowing I needed sugar, but hating drinking sugared drinks I rummaged through our cupboards and found a packet of Yorkshire Tea Biscuits, they were covered with sugar so I thought get a nice cup of tea and settle down with them both, and then thoughts of something I hadn’t done for ages came into my head – dunking!
I got my biscuits for FREE, yes that was correct I said FREE. Yorkshire tea bags have a little token on them, and if you collect those tokens you can send off for various items including their (not so good) tea cake, toy vehicles, tea towels and of course these biscuits.
The packet is decorative enough with the Yorkshire tea logo and the word Biscuits underneath. Add to that the picture of the biscuits and a nice cuppa – and you’ll have a fair idea of what I’m looking at now.
One thing I would point out is that due to the fragility, when these biscuits are posted out they usually break – so be warned, this is mainly due to their shape (T).
Open the packet and you might be surprised by what you see, for instead of the normal round or square biscuits you’ll find these ones in the shape of the letter ‘T’: which considering they are from a tea company makes sense, I suppose. They are as chunky as other shortbread type biscuits and lack nothing on the eye.At the top of the biscuit along the horizontal bar of the biscuit is the word Yorkshire, while the vertical bar has Tea embossed on it.
Now comes for the fun part – the tasting: the biscuits are shortbread and taste even better than other ones I have tasted in the past. The buttery taste is evident, and comes through subtly enough to make the biscuit beautifully tasteful. However, being Yorkshire Tea they also add a splash of their famous tea to give it that something extra – and it works! Each ‘T’ shaped biscuit is as sweet as other shortbread biscuit I have tried, and yet this biscuit has something extra which is impossible to know. The sweetness is there, the buttery’ness’ is there and so are something else.-subtle blends of spices and a splash id Yorkshire tea. Of course in line with other biscuits of this type they are sprinkled with sugar.
In each pack you get about 12 biscuits, and of those just four wasn’t broken – not that it affected the flavour of course.
As you’d expect the product is high in both carbohydrates (65.1g) and fat (26.7g). There are some other interesting ingredients on the list as well: Nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla all add up to make this product ideal for your afternoon cup of tea, and as in my instance to raise low blood sugars.
To summarise: These biscuits come highly recommended. They aren’t too great on the health front but you’d not eat them too often, maybe as a treat or blood sugar raiser. And the availability makes it near impossible to eat them regularly. Each of the T shaped biscuits has subtle flavours of the mixed spices although you can’t actually taste the tea infusion. I’m not sure whether you can buy these biscuits anywhere – and apart from the offer I got I certainly haven’t seen them. However what better way to enjoy them than get them free. In a word – Perfect.
I do think however, that these biscuits should be readily available, that is the only real negative thing I have to say about this product – the lack of availability. I appreciate getting them free is perfect, but you do need to save tokens from Yorkshire tea packs.
Highly recommended

...up a 200g pack of Yorkshire Tea biscuits. As they were a gift I don't know how much they cost, and I've never seen them in the shops around here. I put them in the cupboard and forgot about them. Then last week, my brother was here for tea (drinking tea, he usually avoids my cooking when he can!), and I remembered these were in the cupboard so we decided to try one. The packet has a picture of some of the biscuits, a cup of tea and a big T in the ... ...biscuits have 'an infusion of Yorkshire Tea' in them, but I can't say I noticed. Once I got used to the taste they were extremely more-ish and within two days of opening them the box was empty. As you would expect from a shortbread, these have a pretty high butter content and a lot of sugar. So they might not be so great if you're watching what you eat (my fella refused to eat any!). They are suitable for vegetarians. My pack had a five-month use-by ...

...and are stamped with the Yorkshire Tea name. They are light gold in colour and a largish size, they come in packs of 12 (which are gone at the speed of light in my family!)
They are a unique flavour, the key ingredient obviously being the famous tea, but also a mixture of spices. They are buttery and crumbly and sweet and very very morish! Mmmmm.....The smell is also something I cannot put my finger on, but lovely all the same and the biscuits leave ... ...after the last crumbs have dissappered.
The packaging is a move away from the traditional box, which has become synonymous with the brand. It consists of a picture of the biscuits placed on a white plate with matching cup of steaming golden tea. However, it is no less attractive than the traditional box I have come to love.
I have no idea how much these biscuits are, approximately £1.30 at a guess, but I strongly advise you to try them for yourself.Happy ...

Advantages: strong tasting, one bag=a strong cup Disadvantages: remember the loose bits in the bottom of the box!
I must confess I'm a tea addict and this is no secret. From an early age (about 6) I was initiated into the long family tradition of drinking umpteen cups of tea throughout the day. I mean to say that we had a cuppa to get up with, a cup with breakfast, a cup at 11am (with tea bread) a cup with lunch, a cup at 3pm (with biscuits), a cup at teatime (northernism for Dinner) and a cup to go to bed with...
Mmmmmm...YorkshireTea! Now, I'm a Lakeland lass by birth, so technically I should drink Lakeland tea only. But I don't, my brew of choice is Yorkshire.
I have had the opportunity of testing Taylor's of Harrogate's blends at first hand, Betty's tearoom! I have also had the opportunity to try their blend for hard water as well as the original one for soft water, and some of their marvellous accompaniments.
A box of 160 bags will ...

a slightly stronger, fuller flavour than your run of the mill tea.
I think that as the tea market has got more competitive they have decided to diversify into also producing biscuits and cakes.
Having the brand name "YorkshireTea" or anything with "Yorkshire" in it is a distinct advantage when marketing food and drink as Yorkshire and Yorkshire folk are commonly perceived to be down to earth, honest and reliable.
