...only. Yoshi's Island is a standard platform game in many aspects. There are a few worlds, each with different levels and boss battles at the end of each. The levels are fairly simple - usually they require simply walking from one side of the map to the other, as is the case with all traditional platformers. The beauty of Yoshi's Island is that it's really up to you how simple you would like the game to be. If you want to, you can simply walk along ... ...excellent when next to the Yoshi's themselves. The sound is equally good - though I do not really pay as much attention to the sound, the simple music fits the scene well.
The controls can be quite confusing at first, but it doesn't take very long to get used to them. You'll find yourself throwing eggs at things when you meant to jump for a while - but as it only uses the standard Nintendo DS buttons it won't take you long at all to get used to ...

Most Enjoyable Review ofYoshi's Island DS (DS)by

Advantages: Fun, Addictive, Cute Disadvantages: Slightly Repetative, For young age
I bought this game as i had a gift voucher to spend and wasn't quite sure what to spend it on. Having just bought a new Nintendo DS lite, a new game was called for and being a great lover of Mario (The New Super Mario Bros game, the only reason for buying a DS) Yoshi seemed like the next bext thing. Looking back i'm very glad i bought this game and had i known the game beforehand, would have bought it regardless of a voucher. If you love Mario or ... ...SNES and don't mind the game being slightly on the childish side this is for you. Very much along the lines of Mario (pretty simple platform game) this game is great to keep playing for half an hour at a time. One downside, if you bore easily, you may find this game slightly repetative as all the levels (so far) are pretty much set out the same way and there are no real changes in terms of new characters etc. For the fun loving child or child in ...

Advantages: fun, compact, unique touch-screen and voice interaction Disadvantages: touch screen doesn't always recognise written characters
...My initial expectations of the DS lite were that it looked small, compact, fun and different from most other games consoles. I ended up buying the DS Lite White with Mario Bros, Brain Teaser and Yoshi\'sIsland. The DS is practical, easy to use and the multiscreen isn\'t as confusing as I first thought it would be! The sensitivity of the touch screen is just right, although when writing with the pen on Brain tease, I find the DS doesn\'t quite recognise some of the characters - quite frustrating when you are competing against time and having to re-write one digit over and over again! The voice interaction is quite nifty as well - causing some interesting glares when playing on buses and trains! Overall, the DS met all my expectations - its compact, sturdy (handy when on the go), and definitely fun. At first there weren\'t many different...

Every now and then a game comes along that bares no comparison with others in its genre and it is simply superior to its competitors. A game such as this has no equal and is often cloned but never bettered. Mario Kart is such a title. In its various... more
