About
I love to play games and when I was growing up I had a snes (Super Nintendo Entertainment System), the d.s. has brought this game back to life from the snes version quite brilliantly. There is not many major differences in graphics, colour scheme, characters or general storyline (someone gets captured and you have to save them in nearly all Mario games) but this game really revives the classic Yoshi's Island from the 90's and gives it a touch of new flavour.

Storyline
Princess Peach, Mario, Koopa, Donkey Kong, Wario and Bowser are all babies in this game. They have the mission with Yoshis help to save baby Luigi from the evil wizzard Magickoopa who is one of Bowsers minions. You journey though levels quite similar to the levels played in the snes version of this game and until you find all the babies and defeat the evil witch for good.

There is a certain twist to this game, each different baby can be played after they have been found and each baby has different skills that will help you complete the different levels and find various secrets. Mario has the power to run faster than the other babies, Donkey Kong can climb different vines and trees, Princess Peach has an umbrella that allows her to sore in the wind,
Bowser has the power to blow fireballs, Wario can use a magnet to attract coins.

There are also a number of mini games similar to the ones from the old game within this game, some of which include extra life roulette, a small mini game testing how far you can make Yoshi fly and extra life snap.

Gameplay
The games graphic are not great compared to what we are used to with modern technology, in fact they are quite similar to the previous games graphics, however the D.S. console does not support great graphics in general and I think that it is nice that so many things have been kept similar to the old game.
You travel through different levels and come across different bosses who reside in castles, a trend that is very popular in most Mario games, there is a small castle four levels into the land with an easier to beat boss to beat and then a larger caste eight levels into the game with a harder boss to defeat inside. There are five different worlds with eight levels contained in each of them. Two of these levels are the castles mentioned before.

My opinion
I think that this is a great game and isn't that hard to master. If you enjoyed the first Yoshi's Island for the snes then you'll find this game a real reminder of the past. I liked the way though the game was re-vamped and new characters were added and overall I think that this game is well worth the money.
