After reflecting on the last few years of my life I've decided I want to make resolutions that I will not only stick to but will also benefit my life and well being for the future rather than the same old standard lose weight, eat healthy, get fit type of resolutions that I make every year - although I do have the one generic healthier living resolution amongst my pile.
This is something for myself and my daughter, enabling us to spend a bit more quality time together now I'm working and she's in nursery most of the week. Each week I want to do something creative and fun with her, encouraging new skills in her and just enjoying being in each others company whether it's colouring, creating or cooking. By the end of the year I hope to have made 52 things with or for her, have pictures of them and put them into our Project 52 scrapbook. I'm hoping within the year I can come up with a better name but for now it serves its purpose.
I'm so proud of my daughter and all that she has achieved and how well she is doing at nursery that I want to try some more activities at home. We have already started on Project One which will be building and colouring in the create-your-own Fairy Castle she got this year for Christmas. I think promoting a bit more creativity in her and encouraging myself to try new things with her will be something to look back on fondly.
I resolve to write more this year, more than I have ever written, including more reviews on ciao and generally being much more active since I've started my new job. The £100 I earned in six months last year came in handy just before Christmas so I am hoping I can double it this year and have it just in time again for any last minute December buys. I also have a brand new diary to fill with ramblings and entries on day to day things plus I want to remain active on my blog. So each day I shall post some sort of writings be it here, my blog or my diary. I'll also be using my blog to write about Project 52 and what we're doing so that I have a working diary of our crafts.
"When Was the Last Time you Did Something For The First Time?"
I love this phrase and want to live 2014 by it. So we have a few new things and new places we want to visit and do. We're saving for our first Cruise holiday to visit the Fjords for a few days, which will be our first Holiday together abroad as a couple. I would also like to take Evangeline away for a short break abroad which will be the first time I have done that with her. Other firsts are going to include a trip to Edinburgh for the boyfriends birthday, looking for schools for my daughter as she will be starting school next year, that's a first experience for me and one that is exciting and a little sad. Really this year is a year for celebrating and I'm very excited about that.
This is also the first time I have started the year as a working mother since my daughter was born, the first full time job I've had in four years and I am in the first flat solely in my name with my little family.
Even thought I really hate the lose weight resolutions it will always be up there on my list of things to start doing but I am trying to approach things a little differently this year and instead of saying I'm going to lose two stone by June or 1lb a week for the next 12 weeks (Which wouldn't be enough anyway) I'm going to put a 30 minute break in my diary every day or evening to spend being active. Whether that's yoga, a walk around the block, swimming or dancing around with my headphones on or even vigorous housework it doesn't matter. I vow to set a timer and not stop until it goes off. My job doesn't involve much activity but I am one of the few that doesn't sit at my desk eating all day which is a plus, as is the round trip to nursery then work each morning and reversed in the evenings. Despite it not being much it's something and combined with that extra thirty minute push each day will hopefully give me a bit more energy and aid to me leading a healthier lifestyle.
So those are the guides I hope to live 2014 by. I hope you all have had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I hope it brings all that you'd like it to.
