UPDATE - 15 OCT 2007
Still going strong, however have noticed it is a good bit noisier than my old Zanussi used to be - especially on the spin cycle.
Other problems - it is so easy for someone to accidently start the cycle off again by simply leaning on the buttons. Have occasionally found it mid-cycle when I know it should have finished hours before!
It's impossible to change most of the programmes other than ... ...the temp if you'd rather have it a bit hotter or cooler, which has been a bit of a pain! You'd basically have to start over again with a fresh batch of powder as it always starts each programme with an 'emptying out'. As I'm a skinflint, I just put up with whatever I happen to have originally picked.
Last negative fact - say you've handwashed a garment and wish to merely spin the item, the minimum spin is a 10 minute 'rinse and spin' ... more

It's impossible to change most of the programmes other than skip forward on the cycle - ie you can't increase the temp if you'd rather have it a bit hotter or cooler, which has been a bit of a pain! I still haven't gotten over the fact the door unlocks almost instantly when you find the sock you dropped on the way to the washer! I still love that.
I did switch off the beeps for a while, but I found I didn't notice when my machine had finished. I sometimes forgot I even had a load in. Hence beeps back on, and we all rush to switch it off as it's so damn annoying!
ORIGINAL REVIEW This machine is hot off the production line at Zanussi-Electrolux. It is a latest improvement on the current batch in that they have upped the load capability to 7kg. As my last Zanussi took a measly 4.5kg and bit the dust with worn bearings you will understand why I am so excited!
It's an all-singing, all-dancing, very clever machine by far. No dial to clunk round, just buttons to tap to choose fabric, temperature, spin speed, and if required - prewash, quick wash or extra wash time. Little LED lights show you which setting has been chosen. It also has a digital countdown and an audible beeping at the end just to let you know it's done. A quick look at the manual and you're off.
At first glance I thought the manual a tad complicated. However, as we all know, we all use practically the same programmes all the time, so it was easy to pick out what i wanted it to do. I don't know how many programme combination possibilities there are, but there must be something for everyone here.
A great advancement over my old one, is that this one lets you open the door immediately after stopping! Hurray! No more finding out 2 hours later that I'd forgotten to put in a sock and restart the machine 'cos I'd wandered off while waiting for the door to unlock!!!
My only grumble is that when the programme finishes you have to press the reset button to finish, otherwise an accidental press on the start button (well my 7-year old said it was an accident!) and off it goes again on the same program. Surely if it's finished - it's finished.....! Maybe handy for those that continually use the same programme, but annoying for the rest of us who hadn't got round to taking the washing out yet! It is possible to jump straight to rinse or spin - handy for those who've mistakenly restarted but probably more for those who like to hand wash things themselves and finish in the machine.
Lastly, the beep at the end of the wash. Well, three beeps. Well about five sets of three beeps actually! Time will tell if these become a pain in the derriere.
After loading my first wash I went to bed as I had a migraine. An hour or so later I could hear the beeps from the other side of the house - very faint, but annoying. The first three were a slight shock - when they repeated a second time I began to feel uneasy, (good grief, was I going to have to struggle out of bed to shut it up??)..... after about the 4th or 5th set I was left wondering if I'd ever do a wash overnight again! Mericifully, it stopped after that. Now, if I'm in the kitchen, I hit the reset button to switch them off. As it has a 'delay start' function I suppose I'll have to use that if I want a decent night's sleep!
Overall I'm a happy bunny. It does a great 'jetwash' as before. It's quiet, and it's quick when it needs to be - I think the quickest wash setting is about 35mins start to finish. It has a large door which opens wide, and a huge drum which takes a fabulous, large load - too big for my dryer though, must get a new one......
Advantages: Big; fairly easy to use; heats its own water; shows time remaining; can pause it Disadvantages: Beeps far too much which is VERY annoying; a bit too big
We bought this a few months ago when our old Zanussi packed up.
Being a second (it had a dent on one side) it was discounted, and I can't remember how much it cost. We bought it from the man who came to repair the old one but couldn't (or so he said!).
Personally, I think at 7kg maximum load, this was too big even for a family of four. All too often we have put a load in, only to find it only fills half the maximum, making us feel guilty about ... ...washing machine heats its own water, whereas our previous model drew on our hot water supply, leaving little for anything else while it was on. The new model is welcome in that it doesn't do that.
The washing machine door is hinged on the left and has a large release button on the back of the large handle.
At the side, near the top, it has a powder/softener drawer on the left, numerous buttons along the middle and a small LED screen on the right ...

Advantages: Large drum thats easy to load Disadvantages: Not as quiet as some on spin cycle
We have had this machine now for a couple of months after the bearings went on our old machince. I researched via the Which site before making the purchase and apart from the very expensive machines this manufacturer seemed to have a very good rating on service if something goes wrong (which hopefully won't happen for a while - although it doesn't seem to beep at the end of the wash at the mo, a godsend as the beeps are pretty annoying and you can ... ...the door). It is pretty quiet in operation, although the 1400 spin cycle isn't exactly quiet, but the spin is excellent and the clothes that come out dry much quicker than they did with my old machine. You choose your cycle by pressing buttons. Firstly the On button, then as follows:- There are 5 different fabric programmes - Cotton Daily, Cotton, Synthetics, Delicate and Wool/Handwash. There are 5 choices of temperature 95, 60,50,40 and 30. You ...

When my mother bought our first electrolux washing machine, it was out of obligation. The door-to-door sales lady is a friend who would come and visit us for tea until my Mum made the purchase. I think I was in nursery school at that age.
Although my mum was convinced that this is a good machine, the price was rather steep for our family of four. My dad was still quite new at his job and was not yet moving up the career ladder. Since where we live ... ...up for it from when we were very young. So buying this machine was a huge purchase decision.
Nevertheless, the machine turned out to be quite a good buy. It lasted us until my brother had almost graduated with a degree, and I was ready to leave home to get my degree. When finally it broke, my mum tried to contact the sales person to see what we could do to get it fixed, only to find out that the person who sold it to us had already passed away from ...

own if you have it on overnight.
we are very happy with the washer it is very robust and can handle thick heavy sofa covers being washed, trainers and dirty pe kit being shoved in with gardening clothes, and yet it can also make easy work of hand washing and delicates washes for those more wispy items, like silks.
Buy it if you can! we have had no problems whatsoever.
