I have tried to blow it out but could only manage to extinguish the smallest burner whilst it was set to its lowest setting so it doesn't appear to be a problem. The nicest thing is that it lights first time and stays lit.
The pan supports are also enamelled and are in two sections which means it's easier to clean (fits in the sink or dishwasher...if you're lucky enough to have one!)whereas the old was the full size of the hob top and rather large meaning it rarely got cleaned!
There are four burners, one small simmering burner, two medium burners and a huge triple wok burner which features an interesting whistle. I'm not convinced it's supposed to do this but it doesn't seem to cause a problem, when turned down to the low setting it emits ...

A couple of summer's ago, my husband gutted our old kitchen and put me in a nice new one with all the mod cons, including my new halogen hob! He told me I needed to be careful when cleaning it and the maufacturer's instruction for cleaning recommended Hob Brite, by Homecare.
I tootled off to Tesco and found it very easily, in with the rest of the household cleaning products. It cost at the time about £1.25 but it's since gone up in price a little and the last bottle I bought cost me £1.39 from Sainsbury's - the bottle contains 300ml, and to my knowledge does not come in any different sizes.
The first time I used my new hob I'd cooked us all a spaghetti bolognese and there were a few splashes of sauce sprinkled over the hob. I left the hob to cool down before I attempted to clean it, as directed on the bottle's instructions ...
