My daughter loves Baby Annabell and she has had one for a couple of years but one day she decided to give her doll a bath as her cousin was given her doll a bath as she had baby born. Even though I told her not to she still did and the doll no longer worked properly it work intermittently. So my first advice is do not put this doll near any water it might see obvious but to children it is not. This Christmas I decided that she could have a new one after 2 years.
When I went to the shop there was two, version 3 or version 4. Version 3 was in the sale priced at £20 and version 4 was the full price £35 after having a look round Argos had it on special offer for a week priced at £24 so I decided for the extra £4 I would get the latest one.
So what do you get for your money, a Baby Annabell doll, a bottle, a dummy, a packet of tissues and a romper suit with a matching hat.
They are trying to make this doll more and more real life it is scary. This doll is 46cm long which is the same length as other versions and other Zapf dolls so if you have outfits for other Zapf dolls it will fit her. Her head, feet and hands are plastic and the rest of her is soft body. Her bodice is where the batteries go via the back and where the ON/OFF switch is so is solid here as well. With each version they bring two types out a white version and an ethic version out so people can have a choice on what colour doll they would like they child to play with which is a good idea considering we live in a multi cultural society.
When you place the bottle in her mouth you hear her suck on her bottle and if you fill the bottle with water she will also drinking the water. When you take her bottle out she will burp and close her eyes to go to sleep. If you place the dummy in her mouth you will hear her sucking on her dummy. The newest thing added to this version doll is if you speak to Baby Annabell from the side she will turn her head to face you just like a real baby would do. This doll does not wet herself with the water, instead when you hear her cry look at her eyes you will notice tears coming from them. She will cry if woken from her sleep by a noise but if you talk or sing she will stop crying and start laughing at you.
I did notice that she is a bit heavy so young children might find it hard to carry her but any child over 4 will have no problems.
If her face, hands and feet get dirty just wipe them down with a wipe damp cloth. If her clothes get dirty just throw them into the washing machine with your normal washing.
If you have a child under 3 and want to get them a Baby Annabell I would advise you to get one in the sale just in case they don't like her as I have seen children running away from her also they will not know it's the latest version. Then in a few years if they still like her then get the latest version. If you have a four year old or older then go for the latest one as it will last as the eldest one is 8 and half and hers doll is 3 years old, it still works and still plays with it so was worth the money. The Entertainer still her version 3 in stock and you can get version 4 from most good toy shops.
As this is a functioning doll she does require batteries are not included so make sure have 4 AA batteries at hand. They last quiet awhile, 6 months to a year depending on how often they play with it.
You can get many things for this doll you would not believe. Buggies, clothes, nappies, cots, baby monitors, baby gym, etc, etc. Most of this stuff is well over priced but if you little one does want the matching items my best advice is look in the sales and discount stores you can pick up some items at a reasonable price.
