My daughter has a love of baby dolls and has a rarther large collection of them. She already had Baby Born and Baby Choo Choo and numerous other dolls, but from the first time she saw Baby Annabell she was in love. For months she talked about nothing else. I decided to buy Baby Annabell for my daughter's fourth birthday, nearly a year ago and she still loves her doll as much now as she did then.
Baby Annabell is sound and motion sensitive. She makes realistic noises, such as crying when she's been woken or needs you, babbling and giggling when you play with her, yawning and snoring when she's asleep and even burping after being fed! She makes sucking sounds when she has her dummy in her mouth or when drinking from her bottle and even moves her mouth in a sucking motion! She is the most life like baby doll I have ever come across. Baby Annabell switches herself to standby mode if she has not been played with for 60 seconds.
Baby Annabell is an 18 inch doll (46cms). She looks very much like a real baby. She has a sweet face, blue eyes with long, dark eye lashes and a slightly open mouth. She comes dressed in a pink and white baby gro and a matching hat, these, like everything made for Baby Annabell, have the Baby Annabell sheep logo on them. Her body is soft, her arms, legs and head are made of soft plastic. The compartment to place batteries is on Baby Annabels back, you need a cross head screw driver to open this (so that little hands can't get to the batteries). The on/off switch is located just above the battery compartment. The switch and battery compartment are coverd with material fastend down with velcro. Baby Annabell aslo comes in an ethnic version and a "my first Baby Annabell" version (this one is just a plain doll).
Included with Baby Annabell are a magic feeding bottle, a sheep rattle and a sheep shaped dummy with a clip. Baby Annabell needs four AA size batteries which are not included when you buy her.
Baby Annabell costs around £35, although if you look around you can often find places with special offers where you can buy her for a bit less. This sounds expensive for a doll, but I think it was well worth paying out for. My daughter has constantly played with her Baby Annabell for nearly a year now and she still looks almost as good as new and still provides much entertainment.
There is a wide variety of Baby Annabell accessories. Once you have brought the doll it's doubtless that your little girl will be after some of the accessories too. You can find pushchairs, outfits, cots and many more things, all bearing the sheep logo. Some of these are very expensive (you can buy a wardrobe for Baby Annabell that costs £40 and upwards and an outfit costs around £15 to £20) but I have found that if you shop around you can find some places where the prices are a little more reasonable.
As I said before, my daughters Baby Annabell is nearly a year old now and is still played with often and much loved. Most age groups seem to enjoy playing with Baby Annabell, but I would say she is aimed at 3-6 year olds. The doll encourages role playing and changing her clothes helps to develop motor skills. She might be a good buy for someone who has a new edition to the family on the way and wants to help their little one understand how babies behave.
Baby Annabell is the most popular toy my daughter has had and I can't see her being discarded for a long time yet. I'm very happy with my purchase of Baby Annabell and I'm sure you will be too should you decide to buy one.
