Manufacturer's product description
Direct Quick Print 3000 is a premium, smooth, bright white, direct thermal, paper labelstock. The thermally-sensitive top coating increases the battery life of your Zebra mobile printers, ensuring maximum printhead life. Its all-temperature, permanent adhesive provides premium cold temperature performance and adhesion to a variety of surfaces.
Advantages: Easy to use, create professional looking labels Disadvantages: Limited design flexibility, poor quality graphics reproduction
...The P-touch 2420 seemed to offer the best combination of functionality and cost in a PC-enabled label printer, although this op does not provide a comparative analysis of other models on the market, as the 2420 is the only one I've tried...
THE BASICS
It should be clarified that this is a THERMAL MONOCHROME printer - don't be misled by colourful marketing blurb promising 'colourful labels'.
The only possibility of introducing colour is by changing the tape that you print onto. To be fair there is a range of tape options (all supplied separately by the manufacturer), which allow the printing of black graphics and text on white, red, yellow, green and transparent coloured backgrounds.
The tape, as I refer to it, is a cartridge of self-adhesive PVC (slightly thicker and tougher than sellotape) specially designed to provide the medium...

Advantages: Excellent print quality Disadvantages: short and a bit expensive
...The Dymo D1 tapes, which are suitable for a whole host of different Dymo label machines are a great invention.
Most of us will remember the old Dymo machines, which used pure pressure, to stamp out the letters on to a pretty hard plastic sheet, which had a selfadhesive backing.
The new Dymo machines, with the D1 tape brings it all to the 21st Century. Using heat technology, to bond the ink to a thin plastic sheet, and produce good quality thin labels to be adhered to whatever you like.
The D1 is available in a whole host of widths; 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 19mm, 24mm, and a whole host of colours, ranging from; black on transparent, black on white, black on yellow, white on transparent etc etc.
I have been using D1 tapes for over a year now, t on the small LablePoint 100 hand held machine, and the larger Label Manager 400 machines...

Advantages: Excellent photo prints, simple to use. Disadvantages: Not found any yet.
...It's not an attractive looking printer but looks don't make it work. I have just received Canon ip3000 printer and a Kodak cx7430 digital camera as a Christmas present off my wife. I am only used to my old Desk Jet 400 printer (which still works). I hate having to learn about new equipment and seeing four ink cartridges set me into a panic. The Quick Start Guide instructions to the ip3000 are so simple to follow they are idiot proof. Loading the software onto the PC (using Windows 98) was easy - just put the cd in the drive, agreed the installation and the wizard took over. It works well with the Kodak easy share software that came with the camera. There is also the facility to printdirect from a digital camera without having to load the images onto the PC. The quality of prints using Kodak Ultima Picture Paper and Epsom...
