Oki high speed B&W printing
Review of OKI B4600n - Printer - B/W - LED - Legal, A4 - 1200 dpi x 600 dpi - up to 26 ppm - capacity: 250 sheets - parallel, USB, 10/100Base-TX by
netgekko
Advantages: Very fast
Disadvantages: small paper tray
...The Oki B 4600n is a very fast mono printer. Faster than a fast thing going really fast! This is great if you're printing off lots of copies in a hurry, or ideal for printing customer receipts or information when the customer is waiting.
This printer is quite small so is good if space is a problem, also network ready so several computers can be connected to it.
Oki make very good printers however there are a couple of minor things to watch out for, the drum on this machine seems to get damaged quite easily, if your taking it out and putting it back in, to clear a paper jam or something, be really careful not to let anything come into contact with the surface of the drum.
Also the control panel looks nice but is easy to mark.
Like I said these are really minor issues.
You should be able to pick up a Oki 4600n for around £300...

The inkjet that likes to think it's a laser
Review of HP Officejet Pro K5400 - Printer - colour - ink-jet - A4 - 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi - up to 36 ppm (mono) / up to 35 ppm (colour) - capacity: 250 sheets - USB by

Advantages: Reasonable printing costs, quick print speed, very good quality in both colour and B/W
Disadvantages: It could be smaller
...on top of a filing cabinet.
Printing costs are not bad. You have black and colour cartridges and standard refills cost about £17 each. That's quite dear, but the large size refills are better value at around £24. They last me several weeks and I do print every day.
Speed of printing is very good for a printer of this size and cost. Black and white or colour take a similar amount of time (which is unusual, often the colour is a lot slower) - about 5 seconds a page. Draft printing is really quick - 2 seconds a page, again its the same for colour as for B/W - though i don't really know whhy you'd want to draft print in colour but there you go. Mine does double sided printing, which I always like, but the ink shows through if you use really cheap paper when doing that.
all in all it is a good all round value for money printer...

You don't have to be literate
Review of HP Color LaserJet CP3505n - Printer - colour - laser - Legal - 1200 dpi x 600 dpi - up to 21 ppm (mono) / up to 21 ppm (colour) - capacity: 350 sheets - USB by

Advantages: great printing, low per page cost, simple to set up.
Disadvantages: cost of relpacement cartridges.
...simpler. you install the software, connect the printer when prompted and switch it on. As with all HP printers, there is a huge poster sized chart that shows, in simple pictures, how to set it up. You don't even need to be able to read! loading the toner cartridges is straightforward, as with any laser printer.
Connection
----------------
Connection is by the now-ubiquitous USB cable, so nothing too hard there. You can also network this printer using HP's own Jet Direct technology. There is also a free card slot so that you can install a Wi-Fi card, so that the printer can be shared on a wireless network.
Paper tray.
---------------
The standard paper tray can hold up to 350 sheets, so you should be able to print out an average novel without having to reload.
Performance
