...I bought a DELL Dimension 4100 mini tower last September for general home computing, the machine is a Pentium III 733. I bought the PC fully loaded with 1x128MB main memory, 32mb nvidia m64 graphics card, 20gb hard disk, creative labs sb live sound card, 12-speed DVD, and floppy/56k data/fax modem and the usual software bundle of W98/Microsoft Word 2000 etc.
DELL also provided a free HP Scanjet 3300 and 50% off Encarta reference suite 2000 DVD and the clincher was a 3 year onsite warranty at reduced price (see below).
The total cost of the packages was £1092 + vat, which I thought was a super deal and signed up straight away. DELL predicted 10-14 days delivery and the equipment arrived in 8 days which only goes to show that ‘customer delight’ can be built it by quoting long lead delivery times!
The desktop came...

After buying a Radeon 64MB DDR, I ended up replacing it with this card, the standard Radeon just didn't provide the funtionality that this card did. I suppose I could get the All-in-Wonder version. But the software released with this card allows you to record from VCR's something the newer versions never allowed....

NEC offers an extensive array of memory solutions optimized for the wireless, computing, and networking equipment markets. Its fast memory, both asynchronous and synchronous types, satisfies the demands of high-speed networks, instruments and the most demanding processor cache applications.
...The Psion Revo is different to the other Psions. It's targeted at whole different market. It comes in stylish silver and can actually fit in a pocket. It weighs just 200 grams and is very sleek.
It has many of the features you would expect from a Psion. It uses the same operating system as the more powerful 5MX model, it includes a word processor, a spreadsheet as well as the usual applications. It comes with just 8MB of memory compared to the 5MX's 16 MB. 8MB is probably just enough for the people it is aimed at.
Not as powerful as the Psion 5MX, it still can pack a punch. A highly recommended PDA if you are just a general user....

Advantages: Small, light, many features Disadvantages: Memory could be better
...The Psion Revo 8MB version is small, light and feature packed. I bought the machine primarily to access e mail using a mobile phone. It does this absolutely flawlessly with my freeserve account and my Motorola Timeport mobile phone. The in built software is extremely good, and there are dozens of shareware and freeware titles which can be added as well. Memory could be a bit better (and Psion have now released a 16MB version of the machine), but it is still an excellent palm top computer. Try one and you'll be smitten!...
