I've had a 16" Zildjian A medium crash for about 4 years, during this time I've always found it very versatile, having used it for funk, jazz and orchestral work. Not only does it sound the part, but it looks pretty cool too, however, if I was buying one today, I think I'd have gone for the same cymbal, but with a brilliant finish, just to add a little to it's visual appeal. Having said that, I can't really fault my cymbal, although if wanting a cymbal for quiter applications, I feel the medium thin crashes have nicer overtones at lower noise levels. If you like these cymbals, try looking at the Zildjian A Custom, K and K Custom ranges to broaden your sound palette. Incidentally I also own an Avedis 12" splash (with brilliant finish), which is quite simply the best little splash I've ever seen or heard, not a single complaint.
