Advantages: loads of very good effects Disadvantages: it costs £50
...This guitar pedal is great it is really good. You can get about 70 diferant effects on it. Most guitar pedals give you about 1 or 2effects and they cost the same amount. You should be able to get it at most good guitar shops. There are other products from Zoom for bass guitar and for other effects but I think the 505 is the best out of the lot. Its effects include digital delay, distortion and many more. Anyone who wants to have a bit of a laugh with there electric guitar or is in a band and wants to get some good effects for there songs then this is a must....

Advantages: Great value, good looks, good build quality, large range of effects. Disadvantages: Fiddly interface, not helped by small buttons.
...The Zoom 505 is a great little multi-effectspedal that offers superb value, coupled with great looks and build quality. The range of effects is astronomical given the price, ranging from the obligatory reverb and echo sounds, to the more interesting step and harmonic effects. This is a must-have for the beginner on a budget!...

...after playing guitar for a year i bought my zoom 707 for £99, at first the effects sounded good, many sounds that i never thought could come from a guitar. however after more use, and trying other analogue, single effectspedals, i found that the zoompedal took too much away from the sound. the guitar became a digital piece of music equipment, fine for electronic style music but not for the heavy hitting screeching type of guitar music i wanted to play.
finally to tip the edge, once while on stage i trod on one of the leads as it went into the back of the 707, this somehoe managed to ruin the whole pedal meaning that in order to get any sound out of it i have to tape the unit to the floor and then tape both the input and the output leads to the floor in certain positions so that there is any kind of output, not very useful during stage...
