Advantages: Great value, good looks, good build quality, large range of effects. Disadvantages: Fiddly interface, not helped by small buttons.
...The Zoom 505 is a great little multi-effects pedal that offers superb value, coupled with great looks and build quality. The range of effects is astronomical given the price, ranging from the obligatory reverb and echo sounds, to the more interesting step and harmonic effects. Although customizing the 'patches' with your own effects is quite fiddly (especially given the size of the buttons on the pedal), the most inexperienced guitar player will be creating their own sounds in no time at all. This is a must-have for the beginner on a budget!...

Advantages: So small and cheep Disadvantages: This is not a replacement for full blown rack effects
...or a bedroom player this is more than enough. Anyone badly critisising this I think is missing the point of a beginers processor or the professional who wants something to put in there pocket for practicing on the road. If you get one do a search on Yahoo for Zoom 505 patches and hundreds of other people have left there settings in various pages on the web for you to just tap in and sound similar to your favorite guitarist....

...This pedal is seems to have it all. The boys at Zoom have yet again come up with another pedal crammed with effects. These range from powerful distortions that make you feel like a metal god when thrasing something out (well my mate does when he tries and play my guitar.....pure noise pollution!!!) too wahs via chorus and over wobbly effects along the way.
This is the follow on pedal to the zoom 505 which was smaller than this and had less "noises" on offer. The 707 includes a foot expression pedal too which is quite sturdy and makes the pedal more fun to mess around with.
The pedal comes supplied with in built patches, half of which you can wipe over with your own creations. Patch creation is done by selecting each section of a patch such as what type of main effect and what sort of extra things to be added to it by using...
