ZyXEL Prestige 660HWP - wireless router

i bought one of these and the first thing i noticed was that the router fails the window connectivity test (upnp section). it would also drop out the adsl connection for no apparent reason wheras my netgear dg834g would never do.

i then tried a firmware update and this made no difference. the upnp just stops working completely after around 5-10 mins of operation and does not return unless you reboot the router.

...got a replacement, and had the exact same experience again.

i never got to try the homeplug av part of it. i was attracted by the £50 price tag on pc worlds website, lets just say you cannot get a 54g adsl router and homeplug for £50, coz these things are very poor indeed.

the 2 worst routers i have ever used have both been Zyxel.

why is upnp important? well if you have a ps3 or wii then you'll soon find out they dont connect properly with this pile of cack. probably xbox 360 too.

i'd respectfully suggest that anyone who gives this a good review is jumping the gun or hardly uses it to notice its faults.

oh and it smells funny too.

good features? well, if it worked properly it'd be great.wireless signal was marginally better than the dg834g but no enought o make it worth replacing. but i'm now retruning another one backto the shop for a refund. having spent 2 days tweaking and telnetting and basically trying everything to make this bucket work. but it doesnt work.

do not buy this.
