Advantages: It makes good carrot juice Disadvantages: A pain to clean
No doubt, like me, you saw this on one of the shopping channels and thought, "What a great way to save money on expensive juices and be healthy, why, it looks amazing." but does it live up to expectations?
Well, frankly, no, but first let me tell you what it can do. It is very good at juicing firm vegetables and fruits, like carrots, celery and apples, and that's about it.

Well, frankly, no, but first let me tell you what it can do. It is very good at juicing firm vegetables and fruits, like carrots, celery and apples, and that's about it. On the TV it claims to remove so much of the juice that the pulp that is spat out of the back is dry and can be used in cakes and pasta sauces etc. In reality, try juicing an orange and most of it ends up as waste, a sopping pile of slop. The slot in the top into which you feed your juicables is way too small, and you have to cut things up to fit them in - an apple into quarters, for example. It can't handle high volume and you can hear it grinding and slowing down if you don't let each piece juice properly one at a time. On the TV it says that all the parts are dishwasher safe, but you have to dismantle it all with a special tool (for goodness sake don't lose it!) during which juice flows out everywhere over the kitchen surface. The base of the unit gets pretty gungy and has to be wiped down with a cloth, getting into all the nooks and crannies or it will just go skanky. The hassle of taking it apart and reassembling it means that actually, after a week of using it when we first bought it a year ago, nobody can be bothered to use it any more. Plus, of course, if you make juice for breakfast before work, you don't have time to take it apart and when you get home.... Also, after you use it once in the day, it will be sitting in the dishwasher waiting for it to be full, and then you can't use it. You have to clean it out completely after every use. It's a nice idea but for 90 quid, there has to be a better juicer out there.
