Advantages Tons of recipes
Disadvantages They don't deliver a personal chef to cook for you
I've used allrecipes.com for a few years now and use it at least once a week. I love being able to go and find something new to try out for the family. Otherwise we'd be stuck eating tacos, hot dogs and spaghetti.... not that there's anything wrong with that. But let's face it, we all need variety.
The layout of allrecipes.com is easy to use. On the left-hand side of the site you will find a number of categories to jump to such as Appetizer, Soup, Salad etc. Within each category you will find sub-categories. Under the Brunch category you will find Baked goods, Beverages, Casseroles and on and on you go.There is also a search box on the top left portion of the front page. You can search by keyword, ingredient, or submitter. I tend to know what I'm looking for and just type in a few keywords into the search and up pops a number of possible matches. This is fun because sometimes I find more than just one recipe to give a try.
On the front page you will also find a "Meal of the Day". These are nice for those of us who wouldn't have a clue what to put with the main dish On this particular day the menu consists of an appetizer of Egg and Olive Crostini main course is Portofino Lamb and Artichoke Risotto a suggested side dish of Plantation Ham Cakes, the recommended salad is Fabulous Spinach Salad and finally the best part…dessert Banana Cream Pie. Is your mouth watering yet?One additional, highly useful portion of the site is the Shopping List feature. When you find a recipe that you like you can click on Add to Shopping List and the site will actually create a shopping list for all of the ingredients you will need for all of your recipes. How much easier can it get???
If you subscribe to the site you can put your favorite recipes into a "Recipe Box", email the recipe to yourself or a friend, and rate/review recipes. There is no limit to the number of recipes you take away. And the best part is it's all FREE!Anyone who visits this website, www.allrecipes.com will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to maneuver around the site and pleased with the seemingly endless number of recipes from which to choose. Bon Appetit!

I stumbled across this site today before I read your op. I was very impressed. There were 6 or 7 different recipes for the type of bread I was interested in, and a lot of discussion about their relative merits, and experiences of others trying to follow the recipes. Good site and good op.

Oh, it's so easy to get "samey" about food, isn't it? I shall go here. I love the shopping list idea, cos I'm wayyyyyyy too disorganised to remember stuff in my head once I'm at the supermarket!
