ASDA way to do it UPDATE
Advantages I have to tell you the advantages of never setting foot in a supermarket again?
Disadvantages Time spent trying to order
* This is the update, I'll leave the original opinion underneath.
Got through to the page with no problems tonight, although it's still quite slow. The range of products from Asda are good, but annoyingly, there's quite a bit of stuff I'd normally buy that's not on their list. Nice to know that I'm outside the norm in my shopping habits, then.Anyhow. Delivery has been arranged for Friday after my shuffling of schedules, so we'll see how they get on with that.
Best thing is they deliver their fresh curry meals! Oh be still my beating heart.....I was desperately looking forward to ordering my usual week's shopping form them on line, and got inordinately excited (I must get out more, but somewhere more stimulating than a supermarket) when it told me that my postcode was now covered. Yikes and Yaroop!!
I sat down and followed the easy instructions to the tee. Simple, Straightforward, this is looking excellent. They advise you to book your delivery date and time before order, and felt further blessed when they had exactly the right time slot for me - Wednesday 8-10am. Fantastic! Booked it, it told me it would hold the time slot for 3 hours. Cor, I thought to meself, ain't it amazing what computers can do..I selected the shopping link after I'd registered and started off round the 'aisles and shelves'. This was so easy I was smirking with self-satisfaction. I had a running count of my spending, plus my list was being laid out, nice and legible, all the weights I'd selected were showing, the calculated price, I was fair hugging myself with glee.
Then it all came to a grinding halt. Half the world's population must have logged on at the same moment, and obviously I was having to wait. And wait. And wait. Then I did some more waiting. Then I logged out. No sweat. At least 2 hours to go. Checked back later, still couldn't get on, but my half completed order was still showing on the system. Logged off. Logged on. Very logged off by now.And so I've been logging on for the past 2 and 1/2 hours, and for the observant amongst you, you'll have realised that I've missed my time slot. No deliveries till Thursday. Can't do Thursday. Nor Friday come to that.
Bugger. A trip to the store is now back on the cards for a bright and early start - my nearest Asda involves a 14 mile round trip.Still, I shan't give up, I love their foods too much to let one little cyber-blip put me off, but seeing as how I could have gone, shopped till my cards fainted, come back AND put the stuff away by now, I'm a tad miffed that the promise of saving time and money didn't happen straight away for me.
I shall update their On-line service as I progress with my efforts. Asda are normally so good about things that I'd hate to leave you with the impression that this service isn't.My advice with shopping for groceries on-line?? Not when you're hungry and leave yourself plenty of time for the delivery to be booked.
PS Can't really rate the service properly yet, so where you see Satisfactory stated below, please read as: Dunno....YET
