MAKE IT OR SPEND IT - LOOT
Review of auction.loot.com by Lynda04

Advantages: Find bargains or sell items yourself, also competitions
Disadvantages: None

www.loot.com is a web site for buying/selling items, either by auction or classified ads. It has lots of useful features and is an easy to navigate web site. The pages are uncluttered and well laid out with easy to find links to Loot’s other facilities. Ads are free of charge, and if your ad is in the auction section you can include a photo. It also offers a lot more too – such as finding entertainment locally, and you can do searches ...
...quite similar to Ciao in it’s layout, and is pleasing to look at with just two or three colours which don’t distract from the content. You need to register if you want to buy/sell an item, registration is a simple process where you just need to complete your retails i.e.: e-mail address – house number – postcode- telephone number – password. There are nine sections for buying/selling these are: Accommodation and Property ... Read review

Easiest way to sell items
Review of auction.loot.com by coolchanty

Advantages: free to advertise, great way of selling stuff
Disadvantages: none

www.loot.com is a website where you can advertise your items for free. You can advertise almost anything to sell on loot and the website is really easy to navigate. You can also auction your items for free which may help you to sell it a bit easier. To advertise on the site you have to register with them and set up a profile, however you don't get any junk mail and you can select not to receive anything from them to. Basically to register you ...
...your ready. To then log in you need your e-mail and password. Advertising goods is really straight forward to. You select the cateogory you wish to advertise in i.e furniture, telephones, electrical items etc, select the price and you can choose near offer, or advertised price. You can then select which paper addition it goes in to increase your chances of selling the goods. Adverts are automatically on line but then you can select paper addition ... Read review

My loot nightmare
Review of auction.loot.com by silkypants

Advantages: Free and easy to use.
Disadvantages: Very basic

Loot auctions, like the Loot classified service is completely free and this makes it an attractive place to look for bargains. I had been looking for something particular for some time and was pleased when a 'search' at loot revealed one. The searching is not bad - though there is no 'advanced' alternative as per most sites these days. I clicked on the more info button of the item I was interested to be taken to the 'description' page. This page ...
...somewhat 'basic'). The seller had not used the page to it's full advantage and had not described his item in any detail - and there was no way of contacting them - very annoying. To bid you click on another button and get taken to a bid screen. The current bidding was low enough that I was happy to take a risk so I placed a bid. This is easy enough. And this is where the nightmare began.... I was informed by email that I had been outbid (which ... Read review

Loot site
Review of auction.loot.com by begum

Advantages: so man different adds, eassy to use
Disadvantages: none

If you want to buy anything then this is the site, or if you want to sell anything it’s FREE to advertise as long as it’s a private ad and not trade. You’ll find almost everything here, from Cars to Computer to Caravans. The site is fast and easy to follow. The search engine is good but if you do an advanced search you will find your matches much quicker. Although, you get no telephone number until a couple of days later you do ...
...If you want to sell something in the loot it’s so easier, all you do is send an e-mail and your ad will appear in the edition, the site is regularly updated, every time the Loot magazine comes out. So, if you see something you fancy then go and buy the magazine, which is available from most newsagents or buy the e-edition, which you can buy from online for 90p or something like that. There are literally hundreds of advertisements, so this is ... Read review

Get cheap bargains locally
Review of auction.loot.com by sam123

Advantages: alot
Disadvantages: -

The newspaper is priced at £1.30 which I think is not that bad, considering the fact it has things for sale that cover all these sections: - Household - Sound and Vision - Home - On the road - Recruitment - Computers - Holidays - Leisure - Personal All the listed sections are well represented with good bargains that are for sale in your area. With over a hundred pages of item for sale I think it is well worth a look when you want to buy something. ...
...You can also cheack the website out What I find good about the loot newspaper is that it covers adverts in your area hence you have a realistic chance of being able to look at what your are buying. You can place an advert for free in the newspaper so it comes in handy if you want to sell something, again a service used as I sold my old computer when I ought a new one. Your add is placed in the next edition of the newspaper and it is so easy to do. ... Read review

Shop Around Other Auctions
Review of qxl.com by  Odysseus

Advantages: As a seller, some sale prices.
Disadvantages: Charges.

...Register with QXL by all means, but also check out others. In UK, look at Freeserve Auctions (http://www.fsauctions.co.uk/), Yahoo Auctions (http://uk.auctions.yahoo.com/uk/), eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/) - don't forget Loot (http://www.loot.com/scripts/lootsite.dll). For the prospective seller, the costs of selling are an important factor. In comparison to those mentioned, QXL listing charges and auction success charges are higher than Freeserve and Yahoo is free. Of course, one should also browse for a while to determine what the selling prices are, for these do vary from auction to auction. Presentation, ease of use and facilities offered are, to my mind, secondary to the financial aspects. Nevertheless, QXL falls behind the other auction sites in this area as well. Check out eBay and see the difference! If you are a buyer only... Read review
