I would like to tell you about my recent experience with Autobytel
Contrary to some other reviews here, Autobytel do NOT actually sell anything - they introduce you to some of the best deals available from UK main dealers on new cars.
The system works like this:
1. Type in the details of the car you are interested in - Autobytel will then return the best price available
2. If you like the price, you are then free to make an initial enquiry. An Autobytel rep will contact you to confirm your details and ask if you would like the dealer to contact you direct
3. The dealer then contacts you to answer any questions and confirm the deal on offer.
4. If you are happy you then order the car along with any extras required. A deposit is required (in my case £500) and the balance payable on delivery/collection. You are paying the main dealer and not Autobytel (I presume they are paid a commission or finding fee by the dealers involved)
5 Pick the car up or have it delivered and off you go.
I found the whole process very efficient and easy. The dealer I dealt with was Inchcape Toyota Nottingham and I collected my brand new Celica on March 1st - I opted to collect the car rather than have it delivered so caught a train down to them. I saved almost £2000 on the list price and none of my local dealers could even come close to matching the price offered online.
The car is a brand new UK spec vehicle, not an import, and is fully covered by the manufacturer 3 year warranty. I was looking for the catch all along but I can honestly tell you that there isnt one - just great savings to be had.
I found the dealer to be more than helpful at all stages and have been thoroughly happy with the whole experience. I would recommend that you at least get a price from Autobytel before committing to buy a new car elsewhere - you could save a fortune!

Nice detailed site
Review of autobytel.co.uk by

Advantages: more details on car
Disadvantages: not as popular as autotrader
This site has not been mentioned but its just like autotrader.co.uk and is pretty well known. It has sites based in the states to. Just like autotrader you pick the car your looking for and where abouts your based and it will check through private and trade to find the car you want. I would say though that more people from the trade advertise on this site than private. Your get bigger pictures of the car and each advert includes a picture of the ...

Gives links to Glasses Guides
Review of autobytel.co.uk by
multivariate
Advantages: Glass's Guide Link
Disadvantages: A bit slow
One of the best feature of this site is that it gives access to glass's guide, one of the industry bibles for used car prices (under used cars). It even allows you to input the mileage and makes the appropriate adjustment (so long as it is not completely abnormal). The link is ideal for valuing a specific car but not so good for identifying how the car depreciates over time as plottiong a sequence is rather tedious. There are other sites which give ...

Quick review of autobytel.co.uk
Review of autobytel.co.uk by
tuggyboy
I used them to find a cheaper quote for my Audi, i saved £2000 off the list price and my local audi dealer could only take £10000 off. They put me thru to an Audi dealer at the other end of the country but i opted for delivery anyway so it made no difference to me if the car came from round the corner, or 400 miles away or whatever!
My contract was thru Audi, I paid Audi, warrenty with Audi etc etc Autobytel just find the dealer doing the lowest price.
There seems to be no catch! i spoke to the dealer direct. recommend 100%
