We were recently looking for a new car and looked at this site quite a lot. Apart from giving you listing for cars, new and 2nd hand, that are for sale throughout the country, you specify how close to home you want to look it also gives you listings of the cars that suit your needs if you do not have a particular model in mind. There is a questionnaire that asks you about your needs such as the size of car, price etc and then it suggests models that may be suitable within the area that you have asked for.
You can also sell your car on line for a very reasonable fee.
There is also a link to www.parkers.co.uk. When you go to this site it gives you price guides for most cars so that you know what price to sell your car at or what is the best price to buy at and gives you details of cars for example what to look for when you are looking at a particular model and its pros and cons. Parkers also do a book that you can buy in the shops however it costs over £3.00 so the online version is great if you dont want to invest in the book. Unfortunately not all car models are listed, for example, we were looking for the Volvo 740 and it was not listed in the book or online.
Autotrader also gives you advice about insurance etc.
All in all autotrader is a good site for buying or selling a car, even if you only use it for reference and dont actually buy or sell through it.
