I recently purchased the Babyliss Pro 230 Total Freedom, which is the same as the usual product but also has a cordless adaptor for ease of use and flexibility whilst rushing around getting ready for the day.
I am now addicted.
This hair straightener is the best I have ever bought, and it gets blimming hot! However there is a temperature control so you can adjust it to suit the finish you require and also your type of hair so that fine hair does not get damaged.
The
straighteners retail at £50 I believe but I managed to get them in a sale for £35, and they really are a great substitute for the infamous GHDs if you are on a budget.
The cordless adaptor is quite good, although the idea is you charge the straighteners, then use them until they cool down, then reheat them again- can be quite a tiresome process if you have very long/thick hair.
The swivel cord on the base of the
straightener also stops you from damaging the flex (which was what broke my last straightemers) and the ceramic plates are quite wide so you can straighten big sections of hair in one go. The plates heat up to the max 230 degrees in 60 seconds, and there is a heat indicator that lets you know when they have reached the selected
temperature. All very useful when you are in a rush!
The only downsides I can see is that they take a very long time to cool down once unplugged, and there is no heat retardant mat to put them on, which worries me slightly as a potential fire hazard. Also the first few times I used them there was quite a strong plasticy smell that filled the room.
Aside from that, they deliver excellent straightness and shine and are very versatile, and at a fraction of the
price of designer brands, brilliant value for money!!
