It was love at first bite for me, as their weird and wonderful flavours, containing big chunks of chocolate, nuts, fruit, caramel, or whatever else happens to be the feature of the flavour in question, were like nothing else I had ever tasted! In anticipation of Ciao finally getting around to putting a Food category ( If the head honchos at Ciao are reading this – “pretty please, we all want one and we’d fill it up with loads of ops straight away!”) on this wonderful site, I thought I should mention the absolutely fabulous Ben and Jerry’s website.
For those of you who don’t know Ben and Jerry’s make wonderful ice cream like Haagen Daz but with ... ...Vermont in 1976 and after discovering a Bagel machine was very expensive, they went for the cheaper option of Ice Cream instead. If you have seen the Jim Carrey movie “Me, Myself and Irene”, you should have seen quite a few Ben and Jerry plugs (Jim is seen eating their ice-cream and a HUGE truck drives past in the background!).

Ben and Jerry is the name of the American born ice-cream palour. It was founded in May 1976 by Ben and Jerry. Life for them began in the USA in a renovated petrol station. On the homepage it says "Made in the USA - consumed in the UK". This their UK-based website.
There is a 'Cool Club' to join for free. By joining, you will receive a monthly newsletter telling you all about the latest flavours, events and competitions. You will also get entry to ... ...of ice-cream! From the gift shop you can purchase things such as a Ben and Jerry taxi, and a goody bag etc.
Under 'Hippy Highlights', you can read all about the history of the company. Just click on the year of your choice, and view the reading of that year. There is an 'RIP' section, giving you all the flavours which have gone to ice-cream heaven! It lists the year it stopped, the flavour, and a short description of it.
