I have never been more pleased with a purchase. I absolutely love these headphones. The reason is becuase I have been looking for a pair that ticks all the boxes for so long that I actually thought that the perfect pair did not exist. I have tried too many to name here.

I believe that a pair of headphones must:
1. be comfortable for long periods
2. have great bass response
3. be a sealed design so they do not upset those nearby
4. be good enough for studio quality sound
5. music production quality sound
6. build quality to last for at least 5 years of consistant use
7. Lowish impedence for use with portable players.

A tough ask but these fit every single critera. Wonderful to wear becuase of the velour pads that are just so comfortable. These never get distracting due to the pads, soft paded leatehr head band and fairly light weight. You could almost fall asleep in them. Build is great, they feel like they could last a decade plus they will still be in style becuase they remain unchanged for so long already.

I have the 80Ohm impedence version and a current Ipod Video can run them fairly well at Max. Volume only. So I think they need a headphone amplfier too (I use a C&C box).

Sound from these is truly insightful if a little bassy but I love techno and the like so they really sound like a club environment. They literally shack and vibrate like a subwoofer would. At really high volumes the bass will distort and it feels like these will be blown off of your head. So they cannot go extremely loud with an amplifier but you will not need to go to these extreme levels in my opinion. Rock music sounds great too but would probably suit a pair of phones with a better midrange. The mid gets a bit drowned out by the beautiful bass tones in these phones so they are definately suited to dance music. However, I have seen pictures of bands using these phones (Bloc Party) and also actors (Matt Damon) wearing them during interviews in the BBC radio studio. This means they must be goodif they are trusted at that sort of level.

Durability is immense. These are tough phones that will take a battering with breaking.

Looks arent everything and that applies here. I personally like the way they resemble old fashioned audio equipment but some will find them bulky and ugly. I really dont care what people think when they see them beucase I am in a world of pleasure when they are on.

Please buy these and support Beyerdynamic becuase they truly are a quality product and can be had for about £80 which is exceptional value for money. Very highly regarded.
